Some ill feelings here?

Ya think?

This is why I maintain a personal faith and don’t involve 2,000 years of douchebag patriarchs.

claudermilk, yep, always do when religion gets mixed with politics. Look at St Ronnies’ and Ws’ results. I’ve read one of Benedicts’ books and am somewhat surprised at why he stepped in to this mess.
fennec said, 9 months ago
Politics again wouldn’t you think, Humph? There’s just as much in the churches as in any other human organization.

fennec… that’s an ouch. One of his comments, which I admired, was that he “did not want a mix of church and state. History has shown that everytime it’s happened the results were at the expense of the church”.

Jesus said “Remember that if they have hated me, they will hate you.” We completely expect this from the God haters in the world. You can have your fun, make your snide comments, and even kill us (which many of you here would no doubt LOVE to do), but just remember that it is Jesus you will face at the Judgment Day. And He will take a rather dim view of those who have persecuted His people and His Church.

Irish, yes it will be the “almighty” who judges us all, think you’ll have any surprises coming?

IEO’H - I _am_ Catholic, and I am deeply offended by this arrogant snot of a bishop who dares tell the Pope that he will not recant his ignorance until he studies the evidence himself. And I think God would have a word or two to say about that. Also, contrary to popular belief, the Pope _can make mistakes. This wasn’t spoken ex cathedra.

Sorry about some being offended by this characterization. There are those that have been “offended” by religion for a few thousand years. However, reason and sensible discourse is not a plus in the religious person. Power and fortune are awe inspiring ends that must be defended by any means. Fear, mostly.

Dichotomy, isn’t it?
Crumbling Faith in the infallibility of Jesus’ representative on Earth leads back to God who also represents as flawed.
It can only lead to yet another larger schism in the ranks of the Catholic Church.
The Pope better fix this one fast!
(Humph… a sundial because traditionally the hours were indicated in Roman numerals, meaning time could be running out for that Holy Roman.)

DHL, “reason and sensible discourse is not a plus in the religious person”. Sorry but I disagree when applied as a “cover all”. They’re very necessary elements for me in order to obtain some degree of understanding and without the almighty my life is aimless. Unfortunately you have an abundence of support for your observation.

Wow Eddie nice job of casting yourself as the victim. * sniff *
claudermilk said, 9 months ago
Yep, nice try. I’ve used the term “lost the plot” before, and this guy is a perfect example. It amazes me how people can screw up interpreting such a simple message so badly. I’m with lalas on this one.

“…as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment” Hebrews 9:27 That includes the Pope.

Dana … and?

I don’t think I misinterpreted this at all. The shoe reminds us of the brave Iraqui reporter who tossed a shoe at a LIAR who invaded his country and caused the deaths of millions of people. The shoe tossed at Bush became the icon of the Bush haters.
Therefore, the shoe tossed at the Pope is an icon for those who hate the Pope, the Church, and Catholics in general.
Metaphorically the same.

I wasn’t referring specifically to this toon…

Just getting it in Humphries… I am a Conservative Evangelical after all.
