I guess. I kind of thought of her as a Susan Boyle – brought out of obscurity into the bright lights where it’s both addicting and unsustainably intolerable.

What is it with this cartoonist and drawing breasts? (or hands, for that matter … or cheekbones, in this example.) This looks like an art project that might earn a sixth-grader a low “B.”

I got chastised for drawing breasts like that in 1944. “Little boys are not supposed to draw things like that.”. Later I was praised for being such a talented artist. Go figure.

LLeRay, welcome back, and it takes a while for most of the leftwing toonist here to come to grips with corruption on the left. They will be along soon.

Actually I just heard a report on NPR today about the corruption in New Jersey. I look forward to learning more (and seeing the political cartoons).

nomad, why do right-wingers always call Obama “the One?”
4uk4ata said, 3 months ago
They like to create this myth that the left-wing considers him a messiah, so they can then tear that myth down by pointing out that he has “gasp” flaws.
In the process, they get something to laugh at and feel superior about.

Let’s see. You’ve got Oberman getting tingly feelings down his leg, Newsweek’s Evan Thomas saying he is “almost god”, a woman who thinks Obama will magically pay her mortgage and gas, a McDonald’s employee nutjob thinking he will give him health benefits http://tinyurl.com/mkuchw ,and he likes to stand in front of Roman columns. Just to name a few off the top of my head. Kind of makes it easy.
Oh, and he likes to remind us that “he won”. “Won”, “one”… get it?
Still, it’s not like he’s being called something like “bushitler”, so I can see why you feel slighted. /sarc off
cdward said, 3 months ago
That was Chris Matthews. Evan Thomas said, “What I said was: “In a way, Obama’s standing above the country, above – above the world, a sort of god.” I was not being literal. During a discussion about presidential rhetoric, I was comparing Ronald Reagan’s patriotic appeals with Obama’s attempt to transcend parochialism.”
Does anyone care what a McDonal’s employee nutjob thinks about anyone? Or that some woman thinks nutty things about what he’ll do for her?
For the record, I’ve never heard the phrase “bushitler” used in the media anywhere, certainly not by any commenters here. And you think the Roman column thing is anything?
churchillwasright said, 3 months ago
CDWARD: First, I never said anyone here ever used “bushitler”. I just decided to use the most hateful rhetoric I’ve heard to make my point.
Second, I stand corrected, it was Mathews.
Third, you neglected the “I Won” - “The One” thing.
Fourth, you asked why he is derogatorily called “the one”. These are just some of the reasons why. I didn’t say they were true or fair. I just say it is what it is.
Bush was called much worse, and Obama will be too. Politics, and especially the Presidency, requires a VERY thick skin. Supporters (on both sides) should recognize this, and grow one also. At least nobody is calling him a baby killer…. yet. (except maybe Ted Rall– [Hi Ted!] ) But they probably will… eventually. It is what it is. And it’s the least of Obama’s problems.
InspectorWingnut said, 3 months ago
“The One” was used by McCain in his presidential campaign ad and I believe it was a direct result of Minister Farakhan saying Obama “could be the One” (some Imam or Messiah) or something to that effect .
Ahem…Mrs. Palin’s parentheses look a lot better than Hillary’s do:
