    Alaska is in the black and has been since Ms Palin took over–also, her approval rating is over 80%.
    Every state with a conservative administration is in the black; while liberal run states such as Ohio and Michigan, Massachussetts, and ol’ “IOU” Califronia are bankrupt (by the way, girly-man Arnold is by no means conservative and the legislature has been dominated by liberals for decades).

    You can bash Ms Palin all you wish, but she was the only one of the 4 major candidates with ANY executive experience–have you seen the unemployment figures lately or the stimulus which isn’t doing anything but drive up interest rates, inflation and expand an already bloated federal gov’t.

    Now that’s experience!

    Stebon- Alaska is “in the black” because they have 1. oil and 2. the highest federal subsidies of any state in the union. The state came in with completely different laws, and privileges from the fed, than any other state. If you want the REAL welfare state, Alaska is your baby!

    The Murkowskis were ripping the treasury off for Alaska long before Palin, and we do NOT have sufficient resources to continue our profligate energy use domestically. A little study of land law, and study of federal subsidies to the states will substantiate what I’ve said. Alaska sucks a VERY big hole in the treasury.

    I understand that Bcs, but I do not feel like writing a treatise right here defining “welfare” and “subsidy”, and which or all states have this, that, both, or more. My point is that Alaska’s federal subsidies doesn’t necessarily mean it should be ruled out as a model for other states. Since, I’m not getting the big bucks to know the difference, I hope you can forgive me for not being specific. All the Libs here have academic arguments which are largely untested in OUR real world, so why should I accept them without further analysis or discussion?

    Barstow is beginning to be one of my favorites, though some of her themes go over my head (or bounce off). And i don’t think she is as conservative as some here think. Take, for instance, this ‘toon shows the fleeting pre-eminence of so-called political movements, rather than an implicit endorsement of Sarah Palin.

    My daughter lives in Alaska and loves it. 5 kids and a grandchild at home{Hey sounds familar, must be the water or those really long winters}, gets a tidy check each year for living there so like most of the population works less than half of the year

    PARKERINTHEHOUSE, I like you. But I think your wrong. One should NEVER put something IN the conversation, if you dont want IT talked about. You cant put IT in and then call IT safe. Not Fair. Let’s say “Billy the Kid” shouldn’t be talked about.” Well he’s over 18” you mite say. Well then a women with 5 kids and a grand child doesn’t sound to young. Every body is someones kid. Should LALAS have started his statement with ; “Someone” with 5 kids……
    Fact is everyone who lives in Alaska gets a check from the Government, and probably does not buy a cadie, but a Cadillac snow machine, anyway, one should not talk about someones family unless there’s a point to be made, like she killed her parents, or something, or my daughter (age) has 5 kids just so she can soak the system.
    AND IF not criticizing someones kid(s), how about praise ? And if that praise is not deserved, what then ?
    One does not learn by praise alone, in the end its whether it’s deserved or not. Yes i have kids, gone now, but back then i told them which “KIDS” to stay away from.

    Oh, she is my daughter and she is very lazy and she did get a check from the state of Alaska for almost $25,000 just for being a yearlong resident. Everone who resides there gets a yearly check, working or not. They call it oil revenues. The amount varies from year to year. Each dependent gets a check. I don’t know the exact amount for last year but was in excess of 4k per. She does spend every dime, however, this I’m sure of. Ialas, I’m not offended by your remark, that was my point. I’m recently retired and new on the computer but have been a troll for a short while and most of you seem to very bright.

    A BIG P.S., Sarah Palin dragged her (family values) kids out on the stage, knowing her 17 year old daughter was an unwed mommy.
    I grew up on the back end of , ; a girl had to leave town if she were pregnant. To parade your 17 year old baby mama daughter out on stage has never been done before, as far as I remember . (They would have least hidden the baby). In the old days, they would have been chased out of town, not run for office. Oh how things have changed.
    So now baby mama is out on the road, telling other girls not to do what she has done.And what is that ? Not to marry the father (family values)? Or look, I did it , you can do it too. Even if your mamas the Governor. ( I dont know why you’re so wack over this mom, Sarah Palin’s daughter did it too !) So let us not say a discouraging word about the repair job shes doing for her mother, after all she’s somebody’s Kid. Like getting marriage advice from a bachelor.
