I read a kids book (a LONG time ago) where the hero made a paper thrower out of a cardboard tube, screen door springs & some odds & ends. He’d pull the cocking lever, load a paper in the tube, and as he’d pedal past the house, launch the paper.

Wouldn’t want to live in that neighborhood….I used to get my paper placed on the porch…by a wonder guy who delivered my paper before I went to work, so I could read it then…And if he was late, he’d follow me honking til I stopped and got out of his car and handed it to me, with a “Good Mornin”…

To George Tirebiter: That was a clever kid.

To Jo Clear: That was something done beyond the call of duty. Wouldn’t find anyone to do that today. People don’t want to be bothered to provide extra service.

Our paper is tossed at the end of our driveway. No paperboy in Missouri. It’s adults driving around in cars and they’re unionized. Don’t have a problem with either one.

To Chickweed: Yeah, and if it gets wet or you get missed, you might as well go to Quik Trip and buy one. Nobody even answers the phone at the newspaper subscriber line.

That should have been a power-up in the old Paperboy video game.

What’s a ‘Paper’? Is that like my Flipboard?
