    I usually use diluted pennyroyal.

Iggy’s method of dealing with the teensy flying vampires has style, though.

One thing I’m glad of: not all of the little fiends make that awful whine. Sometimes you hear the whine and sometimes the little things are silent. I suppose one has to imagine the fork and carving knife as the things fly in for the kill.
Worst mosquitoes I’ve ever run into was a little spot called Worden south of Klamath lake among the canals. Most years not too bad. But in summer 2003, I stopped for gasoline and got more than 50 bites in about 3 minutes. Made me sick as a dog for a few hours, too.

I remember Revelstoke in BC as being particularly bad for mosquitos. Haven’t been there for years, though.

For what it’s worth: 100 mg on vitamin B-1, once a day, keeps skeeters away. Start taking the pill ≈ two weeks before the critters are out and biting. It works for me and Kid Sister, don’t know why, though. I’ve had the beasties land on my arm sniff around then fly off. I could hear the “Ewww!” fading in the distance. :-)My Doc says it works for other of his patients but no guarantees.

Jackson Hole, WY, campground. So many bites, I looked like I had been hit by flying glass. This in the days before DEET.

I have an electric swatter that looks like a tennis racket. It’s so much fun! You swing it and when you get a hit it sparks and emits a satisfying crackle! Moths and flies are even more spectacular! Revenge is best served with HIGH VOLTAGE!

I read the females are the silent/stealth biters — to get the blood to feed their young. They’re the ones you need to watch for. Only the males make that whining sound.

Hey Al, sounds like you met me somewhere…did we date at one time ? And yes, I do know a lot of men who constantly whine about something or nother…LOL…thanx for set up..haha
