Unsuccessfully chasing flies is a much more intellectual sport, and is the culmination of the hunting skills of generations of lions, tigers and puma on the great plains, tracking down and capturing eagles, falcons and great Pterosaurs.

Dogs are not smarter than cats. Cats are not smarter than dogs.
    They are each differently intelligent.

Let’s see what happens when a ball of yarn is rolled pass the kitties. Or see if they will follow the bouncing light from a laser pointer.

I have 11 cats and 1 dog. I don’t have to wash my cats or have a separate house for them. I don’t have to worry about them dragging a dead skunk, possum or deer guts into the yard and they come running to meet me when I come in from work just the same as a dog does. My pen name is even after 1 of my cats. Cats rule without question.

Your cats might not present you with the deer as a fresh kill and giftie. But there are always the mice, shrews, butterflies and small birds. If they roam outside. (I have even heard tale of a cat that found her own play toy – live garter snake)

The last little gift was a mole. Not bad for a cat. Kill food and a pest at the same time.

When I had three cats, long ago, their idea of “bringing home a present” was to “kill” a twig, drop it on the front stairs and brag about it. Then again, their favorite pastime was playing fetch with a keychain rabbit’s foot, so they may have been thinking the twig could be used for fetch, too.
