Babies and puppies are both quite cute, but underneath the soft, cuddly exteriors lie the fearsome hearts of competitors. Well, not really. When a new baby joins the household, Sophie the dog is initially irritated, but eventually comes to see the baby, Doug, as the asset he is: a better way to get snacks. Though the baby is still hogging precious attention, and has a tendency to pull ears and be a general nuisance, a begrudging friendship forms between the two rivals. Watch the mischief unfold in Brian Anderson’s Dog Eat Doug.

I don’t know about Sophie, but with my Lab, the merest hint of squirrel and she’s off like a ballistic missile . . . including climbing trees!

I just read back through all of Dog eat Doug and have two comments.
1. I miss the “watch out, he’s a hugger” strips.
2. What happened to February 27, 2006 and May 1, 2011? I can’t read either one.

YES!
Doug needs to “Hug the Kitties,” if THAT doesn’t make them reveal their true (Evil) selves, nothing will!

Good point. He hasn’t tried squishing the cats yet.

Well, the squirrels have always been insane. They’re my Shakespearean clowns.

Hugging kitties is a chancy thing and can lead to minor lacerations
One of our cats loves to be hugged, 2 can be tolerant at times, and the other 2 should wear “Beware of Cat” signs

That Sophie allows the squirrel to touch her face is incredible. Let loose Hobo and Cheese on that cheeky squirrel. And lets have another musical interlude with the DED jazz quartet … those are great, as well as Doug tasting poor little Cheese (the grey kitty)

when I was young we had five cats, alley types, my little brother brought home this little ball of white fur, the cats drove him crazy. then one day the ball of fur grew into a St. Bernard. PAY BACK TIME

Sophie does not need to pay attention to this bit of neurotic cat food. (Yes,cats do catch and eat any squirrel insane enough to be on the ground arround them.)
