Babies and puppies are both quite cute, but underneath the soft, cuddly exteriors lie the fearsome hearts of competitors. Well, not really. When a new baby joins the household, Sophie the dog is initially irritated, but eventually comes to see the baby, Doug, as the asset he is: a better way to get snacks. Though the baby is still hogging precious attention, and has a tendency to pull ears and be a general nuisance, a begrudging friendship forms between the two rivals. Watch the mischief unfold in Brian Anderson’s Dog Eat Doug.

Just like Poncho of Pooch Cafe.

Well, I think it’s broader than cats. A more generic phobia of fuzzy creatures. It would also include Ferbies with steak knives taped to them.

Regarding your questions yesterday about litter boxes… I use a large storage tub for my cats’ litter box. I have 2 females and 1 male (all neutered). The male likes to just lift his tail and spray the side of the box when he pees. Because of this, I could never use a regular litter box… and I doubt he could be trained to use a toilet (even if I had a second one that I could dedicate to the cats’ use).

I use litterboxes of a fairly regular height, but I’ve taped a piece of 3 mil plastic sheeting at about 1 foot up the wall, and extending down into the litterbox. That catches any spraying and channels it into the litter.

My vet told me that to prevent spraying, you had to neuter your tom cat before he started to spray. Once he starts, neutering won’t stop him.
We had a female cat who sprayed occassionally, when she felt compelled to I suppose. Only outdoors though.

I like that Sophie is not afraid of a sea monster, but she is of two little furry monsters.

Ferbies (Furbies?) don’t need steak knives to be scarey. … you should know that well and full. After all – you have watched Twilight Zone. And Dr ’Who.
