Babies and puppies are both quite cute, but underneath the soft, cuddly exteriors lie the fearsome hearts of competitors. Well, not really. When a new baby joins the household, Sophie the dog is initially irritated, but eventually comes to see the baby, Doug, as the asset he is: a better way to get snacks. Though the baby is still hogging precious attention, and has a tendency to pull ears and be a general nuisance, a begrudging friendship forms between the two rivals. Watch the mischief unfold in Brian Anderson’s Dog Eat Doug.

Just lay down with one of them Sophie, kitties are great for cuddling
Only one of our cats likes to sleep with the St Bernard, she babied him so much as a kitten he might think she’s his mommy

Is the colour off on this one today?

Sophie, make the darn cats move. That’s what my dogs do.

Sorry about the mix up. Sent the wrong art out on this one. What you see is the art rough that I used to work out the final lighting on this strip. The correct version is here:

I kinda like the version posted here today, it gives the strip a different feeling than the finished one

Why does the hand suggest utter surprise that Sophie would ever choose that spot?

Poor little Sophie … Her “parents” should pay a bit more attention…and Sophie should show those little kitties who rule the roost, before it gets out of hand. They all can get along just fine…seen it before.

brian, thanks, makes sense now

I think it’s because the final version Brian links to has a sunshine image on the TV (instead of light from the windows that the cats are in) – not so much the spot but the concept of turning the TV on to an appropriate channel and then lying down.

I too rather like the coloring of this unfinished one. It looks as if each of the animals has found the perfect spot that matches their color.

I have a cat that loves to sleep in the sun…and yet she also loves to sleep on top of our entertainment center under the TV, so Sophie’s dad shouldn’t be too shocked
