Babies and puppies are both quite cute, but underneath the soft, cuddly exteriors lie the fearsome hearts of competitors. Well, not really. When a new baby joins the household, Sophie the dog is initially irritated, but eventually comes to see the baby, Doug, as the asset he is: a better way to get snacks. Though the baby is still hogging precious attention, and has a tendency to pull ears and be a general nuisance, a begrudging friendship forms between the two rivals. Watch the mischief unfold in Brian Anderson’s Dog Eat Doug.

when our shepherd was alive she would sleep on the spare bed and the cat would curl up to her belly and they would sleep that way

You can’t resist a cat rubbing against you Sophie!

We call that a drive by
Our youngest cat is dangerous in the kitchen because he’s always rubbing against our legs
He has a special relationship with our St Bernard, he’ll do a “drive by” and she smothers him with kisses so bad it looks like she’s trying to eat him and then they curl up and sleep together

In panel 2, it DOES appear that Sophie is enjoying it.

Reminds me of my husband when our cats dare to rub up against him. He flinches, then yells, “Ugghhh! Cat hair!” Hasn’t changed in 25 years.

Cats will do that to ya. Yea, they will!
Good Morning, Crew!

I read that when cats rub against something (or someone), they are really just marking it with there scent. Makes sense to me..

True. They also scent mark by rubbing their mouths against things and with the pads of their feet when they “knead.”

Our black tom will let the lab mix lick him for long periods of time. However, when the cat is tired of being “bathed”, out comes the claws, and the two go their separate ways.

Yup… they are basically saying, “This is MINE!” when they do that,
