Babies and puppies are both quite cute, but underneath the soft, cuddly exteriors lie the fearsome hearts of competitors. Well, not really. When a new baby joins the household, Sophie the dog is initially irritated, but eventually comes to see the baby, Doug, as the asset he is: a better way to get snacks. Though the baby is still hogging precious attention, and has a tendency to pull ears and be a general nuisance, a begrudging friendship forms between the two rivals. Watch the mischief unfold in Brian Anderson’s Dog Eat Doug.

Yes ladywolf. I think I still hear him say the line: “There’s a bathroom on the right” (There’s a bad moon on the rise)

I know there is some debate on whether or not to color the daily comics, but this one is visually stunning with the color.

Yep, it’s really scary that Doug, who cannot even walk yet, is along with a puppy outside in the dark and wearing a pillow-sized ghost costume.
But, since Doug’s parents didn’t supervise him when they were on the farm, it is logical that they let him crawl outside to go do something he has never done before.
Sophie is a know-it-all puppy and isn’t even a year old either. But, of course, this is a comic strip and not real life.

I wish we had a chance to see the haunting moon tonight, but we have stormy, frightening weather. Great spooky art. Be careful Doug and Sophie.

I just finished reading these comments and looked out the window and there was a real Halloween moon – just two days from full! Gonna be impressive when the sun goes down!

This is gets my vote as the best Halloween comic of this year. Beautifully drawn and colored, and it gave me a smile. Very well done.

Joe Allen Doty, obviously Doug and Sophie’s parents were influenced by It’s the Great Pumpking Charlie Brown, where a child stays out all night in a pumpkin patch, and no one but his elementary aged sister notices and brings him back home.
