Babies and puppies are both quite cute, but underneath the soft, cuddly exteriors lie the fearsome hearts of competitors. Well, not really. When a new baby joins the household, Sophie the dog is initially irritated, but eventually comes to see the baby, Doug, as the asset he is: a better way to get snacks. Though the baby is still hogging precious attention, and has a tendency to pull ears and be a general nuisance, a begrudging friendship forms between the two rivals. Watch the mischief unfold in Brian Anderson’s Dog Eat Doug.

The last dog that came into the house made the mistake of scaring my cat Boots.
My other cat, Titten, thinks she is Boots mommy.
She chased the dog into a corner and wouldn’t let him out until it was time to leave.

I have never seen any farm cats get in the way of other farm animals.
Interesting word, hogtie, it doesn’t have any connection with using a rope to tie a hog.
The term is actually applied to the tying of an animal’s feet together. And a piggin’ string is generally used to do that.
A piggin’ string is a rope that is small in diameter.
Calf ropers in rodeos use piggin’ strings to hogtie three of the calf’s feet together.
By the way, a “goat roper” is a wannabe cowboy.

My mom used to have a little grey tabby (less than 10 pounds) whose favorite pass-time was waiting for a dog dumb enough to bug her…she like to go for dog-back rides. Never found a dog who could be enticed into offering her more than one ride, though.

Our dachshund chased our neighbor’s cat around the house one time, and when they came round the other side, it was the cat chasing the dog.

Barn cats don’t usually get to go in the house.
At least they didn’t at my grandparents farm.

Murphy,
One of my friends lived in Rural part of Rural County and rasied cattle. She had an Electric Fence to keep Cattle ouf to he yard. She had a cat and a small dog. She saw this happen one day. The Dog was Sunning at the bottom of the front steps. The cat coems around the Hosue and pesters the dog innto chasign the cat. The cat rusn all over the front and back yard several times then finally the cat runs under the Electric Fence. The dog could not stop and he was too tall to clear the Fence. When Dog hit fence, dog was shocked and yelped.
The dog then walked back over and laid down in the spot in front of the steps. The cat waited until the dog was almost settled then pestered the dog into another chase. Again the cat ran al over the front and backyad, then once again cat scoots under fence, dog hits fence is shocked. This happened all day every sunny day that Summer.. The dog ever learned not to chase the cat.
Hence: Cats Smart Dogs Stupid.
This happened 40 years ago

Box,
Simple reason, they did not like claws digging into their backs and they were unable to detrhown the cat.

Look out Sophie. I’m worried about our Beloved Pooch.
I Remember years ago was walking my Dog around a friends house when he came too close to a Momma Cat and her Kittens one swipe of the cats claws he broke the leash and ran to the car making a leap of 4 5 feet through the open car window.
