Looks like they’re drinking wine. Makes Joy get big dreams, doesn’t it?

Fun Fact: The citizens of Crustwood, Illinois, voted in 1987 to move the official celebration of New Year’s Day to the Saturday before Tax Day.

The reasoning behind this measure, according to local records, is that on December 31st,
they are not willing to give up the current year, having not yet squeezed out all the days they paid for in the prior April.

This year, therefore, it is 2012 in Crustwood until Midnight, April 12, when it will be Crustwood New Year’s Day, April 13th, 2013.

(New Year’s Eve, happily, is thus always on a Friday night.)

In the spirit of the holiday, Burl, Joy and Ma are now making their Crustwood New Year’s resolutions.

    Just in case you wondered.

P.S. It is considered very bad form to go dredging the archives in order to refute this information.

Just thank me and move on.

    Thank you.

If I were Burl—and thank God, I am not—I would apply to the French Foreign Legion if Ma actually started coming by more often.
And as to Joy’s new-found eagerness to exercise, just consider the possibility if she finds some of those “see thru” yoga pants at the dollar store. Talk about scalding your eyeballs!

from the dialogue it looks like the roses talk then mother-in-law, then the clown. if I was the clown i’d start now.

I kind of like that it appears that the clown painting is talking about traveling more. I would get tired of hanging on the Pennys’ wall, too!

It would be our luck that Lululemon would have an outlet store in Crustwood.

I can believe that the flowers want to exercise WAY MORE easily than I can believe that Joy wants to.

I also thought that the wine glasses and unrealistic statements indicated New Years resolutions. I was still thinking of wearing my very light weight silk knit shirt and pants for work out today.

Last time he saw me in them, he declared that he wanted to sign the shirt Gives me something to think about during a weight routine.

I just hope Ma is successful with her goal, couldn’t happen to a more deserving guy than Burl. there seems to be an extra glass of wine by Ma. they trying to loosen her up?
