Ma, as ever, committed to the truth. Poor Rosemary, it’s not her fault she’s so ugly, but she doesn’t have to go outside.

Do we remember the old shibboleth that a pretty girl will surround herself with homely girls to serve as a foil? If this is the case here, Joy had to search high and low to find Rosemary for her foil.

The photo was probably taken when they were both 17.

Mikie my MOM used to say that kind of stuff!

"Don’t pick pretty girls for friends, pick homely ones.

Then you’ll be the one the fellows ask for a dance."

“You don’t have to like him to go on a date — he might have a friend you’ll like better.”

“Don’t act so smart. Men don’t like smart girls.”

I rolled my eyes at her theories — and I was too dorky to get dates anyway, so we didn’t have to argue them in practice.

    Meanwhile….
    Good Morning Crustwood!

Speaking of being gone earlier today….. oops, I mean yesterday

I seem to have missed a lot in a short time!

Dry — Yes, sniffle, they are very cruel to me around here. But I’m bearing up.

Dazz — didn’t know you had a wild side!

Ray, yeah, I do write “cos”, something used by all my English friends and books as a kid overseas.

It was so handy I never succeeded in giving it up, even though I tried.

Dave, I can’t find where you asked me…. but you do look in here….

I don’t know whether it was a link or a mention.

When people are banished, their past and present comments are made invisible to other people but only in the forums.

They’re still visible to themselves everywhere, and to others on their profiles.

But without comments to click, you have to find the profile another way, so I was providing a link.

And Dogsniff got sprung…. so it worked!

Yeah, Burl and Ma pick up social skill pointers from each other just continually fueling their overall “Have a Nice Day” outlooks.
    .
BTW: The phrase “Let’s all get behind Dogsniff” kinda had a wierd conotation; but the result was OK.

Today’s comic reminds me of Jim Neighbors. While the cast of Best Little censoredhouse in Texas were doing promotion tours, Jim said that he got off the plane and some lady hollered, “Hey Gomer! You’re even uglier in person!”

    Morning Crustwoodians, esp. you Dogsniff.

Please don’t stop using “cos,” Susan. It’s very charming. Didn’t know it was a British thing.

Does Ma even realize the words that come out of her mouth?

Ma is no less considerate of the feelings of others than Burl or Joy. Usually Julie ties in many little details (like what’s on TV) but that doesn’t look like anything that either Ma or Joy would choose to watch (1 Adam 12 with a race car?)
