Julie Larson began writing The Dinette Set comic in 1990, then called Suburban Torture, offering a satire on middle class culture. The Dinette Set became syndicated in 1997. When asked where Julie gets all of her ideas, she admits there is only one way to write a daily comic: write about what you know. "I make no bones about who’s really talking in The Dinette Set," says Julie, who is writer, director and cast of The Dinette Set. "If we can’t make fun of ourselves, who will?"

Actually, Burl’s line is kinda clever. Have to keep it in mind for a ‘haggling’ situation… see if the seller ‘brings it down’ into view…?
Color is too good to waste on these yahoos; they’re scary enough in black & white.

I’d prefer the larger format and no color. Color adds nothing to this strip. (Guess it’s not literally a “strip” anyway.)
I’m with both Burl and Joy on this one. Burl for his clever reply, and Joy is right to ask. If this is a garage sale, the tag means nothing. She might’ve asked, “How much will you take for this?” instead, though.
Dumb as Burl is, he occasionally comes up with some real zingers.

Last week this was way bigger. What happened? Now it is smaller than in the newspaper. Is there a way to make it bigger? Annoying to look at so small because there is so much hilarity going on in the background! Fix this please.

There are people who go to garage sales to purchase stuff to sell at their own garage sales.
Here in Tulsa, a person cannot legally have garage sale every weekend on his property.
I knew a guy who got together with several other people in Southwestern Tulsa, which has several different historical communities, and they got around that law by having a garage/yard sale every weekend.

Back in the early 1970s, my father had never heard of a flea market.
He and I took a week’s vacation together in 1971 and we went down to Texas.
When he saw a sign about a “Flea Market,” he wondered why anyone would be selling fleas. I explained what that meant to him.
