    +1 to toss it out. I’ve got a printer that needs a part that is $9.00 less than the cost of a new printer. Once I factor in shipping, it would be cheaper to buy the printer new and have a warranty with it.

    I remember an old joke about a repairman who’d set his own custom labor rates and gave the list to everyone who wanted his services.
    .
    Normal labor rate- $35/hour
    You want to watch- $45/hour
    You want to help- $75/hour
    You already tried to fix it yourself- $125/hr

    Dilbert doesn’t have the time to fix it himself, so he intends to hang out with the repairman the whole time making ti take longer than it otherwise would.
