    Old saying—If you have to explain a joke it is not funny. The compass is pointing the correct direction (North) & is to be used as a reference for which way you want to go. If you do wish to go North, then follow the needle. If you wish to go South, then go 180 degrees from the direction of the needle. East & West is 90 degrees from the needle.
