Artist Joe Staton and writer Mike Curtis co-author "Dick Tracy," the classic comic strip distributed by Tribune Media Services.
Created by Chester Gould in 1931, "Dick Tracy" is one of America's most-enduring pop-cultural icons, noteworthy for its steadfast, chisel-jawed hero and the gruesome gallery of villains he and his fearless team of Crimestoppers must outwit to put behind bars.
When longtime "Dick Tracy" artist and writer Dick Locher retired from the strip after 32 years of meritorious service, fans Staton and Curtis jumped at the chance to don the yellow fedora and trench coat. Staton has been drawing comic books for many years and has more than 1,000 credits under his belt. Curtis, who has been writing comics since 1986, is the only former law-enforcement officer to work on "Dick Tracy." Both creators are excited about the new--and dangerous--adventures they have in store for Dick Tracy and his Crimestoppers.

Broadway’s cooking up a plan! But a yellow newspaper with a purple title bar?

Maybe that’s the reason they pulled the Sunday strip – they didn;t want us to see it colored correctly!

Mornin’ 60sFan, VistaBill, margueritem, Gweedo and all you latecomers!
Love this story – the cosplayers element would only work with somebody used to “costumes,” and giving Broadway a backstory in a certain other city – explaining his dislike for them – was brilliant!

Come on, haven’t you heard of… yellow journalism?
(Nearly missed my cue!)

Morning all. Silly question, but is that green thing in Belle’s hair supposed to be a barrette? I noticed it yesterday when it was colored white (there were actually two yesterday, one on either side of her head).

(drum roll and cymbal crash) Ha!

Maybe Broadway is like Mole, Pear Shape, and Influence, and has gone straight, and has left Gotham to be rid of his brother, and the costumed wierdess of that city?

Es posible, but my spidey sense says Broadway’s up to no good.

I see what you’re talking about. Yes, I suppose those must be hair clips. Not sure what else they could be. White yesterday, green today, wonder what color they’ll be tomorrow?

It’s pretty clear from the 11/18 strip that Broadway is a crook and left Gotham to get away from costumed do gooders, especially Batman.

So, Broadway feels it is his job to do something about these “costumes,” even though they’ve probably never even heard of him, ehh? Well, there’s a weakness on display already!

I’m waiting to see what’s on the business end of that cane of his. I’m thinking it might be pretty sharp! His brother’s umbrellas always had a way of being pretty sneaky…

The term Yellow Journalism came from the comics pages, when cartoonist RF Outcault left one paper to join another (in a case very similar to that of the Captain and the Kids episode):
