Artist Joe Staton and writer Mike Curtis co-author "Dick Tracy," the classic comic strip distributed by Tribune Media Services.
Created by Chester Gould in 1931, "Dick Tracy" is one of America's most-enduring pop-cultural icons, noteworthy for its steadfast, chisel-jawed hero and the gruesome gallery of villains he and his fearless team of Crimestoppers must outwit to put behind bars.
When longtime "Dick Tracy" artist and writer Dick Locher retired from the strip after 32 years of meritorious service, fans Staton and Curtis jumped at the chance to don the yellow fedora and trench coat. Staton has been drawing comic books for many years and has more than 1,000 credits under his belt. Curtis, who has been writing comics since 1986, is the only former law-enforcement officer to work on "Dick Tracy." Both creators are excited about the new--and dangerous--adventures they have in store for Dick Tracy and his Crimestoppers.

I like the idea of a Moon Maid avatar contest. I think that having Moon Maid avatars on GoComics will be free advertising for Dick Tracy, so I am providing thirty six avatars for people to use. I am removing myself from the running since I feel I have an unfair advantage in the competition. Enjoy the avatars!

I’m with Junior: I can’t believe the real Moon Maid would behave in this way. But I feel sorry for Sparkle and him, because something weird and wrong is going down, whomever Retik and his moll are controlling….

I was not a follower back in the day that Moon Maid suffered that explosion….tell me, those who know….was there a body, an autopsy, a burial? Or did the body by any chance get claimed by her father and taken back to the Moon? Hmm?

I remember that one episode, represented in one of the avatars above, where Moon Maid wanted to remove her ‘horns’ so she would be more like the Earthlings.

Junior, isn’t the destruction of private property a crime? Taking out a tombstone is some pretty harsh vandalism. And Tarry, thanks for the many faces of Moon Maid. That final one almost brought a tear. I hope Team Tracy handles the rest of this storyline with a delicate touch.

There was a burial. She died instantaneously in a car bomb blast meant for Tracy, but they didn’t show the body. As far as the autopsy goes, I’ll have to assume that happened “off camera,” as it were.
