Artist Joe Staton and writer Mike Curtis co-author "Dick Tracy," the classic comic strip distributed by Tribune Media Services.
Created by Chester Gould in 1931, "Dick Tracy" is one of America's most-enduring pop-cultural icons, noteworthy for its steadfast, chisel-jawed hero and the gruesome gallery of villains he and his fearless team of Crimestoppers must outwit to put behind bars.
When longtime "Dick Tracy" artist and writer Dick Locher retired from the strip after 32 years of meritorious service, fans Staton and Curtis jumped at the chance to don the yellow fedora and trench coat. Staton has been drawing comic books for many years and has more than 1,000 credits under his belt. Curtis, who has been writing comics since 1986, is the only former law-enforcement officer to work on "Dick Tracy." Both creators are excited about the new--and dangerous--adventures they have in store for Dick Tracy and his Crimestoppers.

I wonder if the mention of their two kids will figure into this story or maybe a future one.

Fast action! Good police work by Sam, good thinking by Chief Patton! The game’s afoot!

Flattop’s face has always amused me. His mouth is usually drawn like he is trying to suck a watermelon through a straw! /// Also, I’d like to make a couple of comments about Stilleta. Flattop was associated with Pruneface when he was working for the Axis Powers during WW2. Maybe Stilleta was one of the enemy. Her brown skin and what appear to be Almond shaped eyes hint that she could possibly be of Japanese descent. Maybe that is how she met and married Flattop?

I’m just wondering: why are we resurrecting all of these villains from the past or their relatives? I know Joe & Mike can come up with their own but it looks desperate.

The syndicate insisted Max Allen Collins revive a villain a year when he took over the writing from Chester Gould, so this is not unusual. But please notice that Flattop is not coming back and Stiletta is a new character.

On Sunday, Sam talked about Tracy being missing but today, it seems like Sam has just discovered it. It felt like they weren’t doing much about the kidnapping. I think it has more to do with Team Tracy having to produce Sundays on a different schedule than the dailies.

On the Yahoo Dick Tracy site Mike has hinted that a new sub plot would start this week in this story. Watch for Wednesday and Thursday.

Well, Phishface is our next villian after this,. He’s new. But Joe and I regard that our takes even on classic villians are new.

Despite my previous comment about Stilleta looking young, I am quite enthralled with this story line. I often wondered who Angeltop’s and Flattop Jr’s mother was.
