“Acting is not my strong point gang” No, and neither is Tracy being a detective his strong point either. Considering his ability to do gymnastics on a stuka, he may have an olympic career.

Getting closer to starting a new adventure. Gotta keep padding it a bit to line up the next yarn with Sunday.

Meanwhile, compare these last three Sunday strips of the Phantom:

A bit of recapping in the first panel but it is weekly so it’s intended to jog the reader’s memories. Outside of that, notice how the story moves along. No forced pacing to make the story fit the daily and Sunday spots. And the daily Phantom strip, a separate storyline, also moves right along.

Time for Dick Tracy to wise up and use separate storylines.

Time for Tracy to wise up, period.

Maybe the new adventure will have more depth, it won’t be so two-dimensional.

I sure will rest easier knowing who’s wearing that star–a cop who can almost outrun the bad guys.

I love ‘The Phantom’ and read it daily. The apparent death of Diana, and her kidnapping make for a great story.

My local newspaper still runs the Phantom but dropped Dick Tracy for Tundra. I wonder why. I must say Tundra shows better police work than anything I’ve witnessed here.

I like The Phantom even better than Dick Tracy. It’s much more realistic.

I’ve never seen ‘Tundra’. Is it online anywhere?

There’s good news and there’s bad news.

Good: The hand in panel two actually bears some resemblance to a human hand.

Bad: Drawing it was such an effort that there was nothing left over for rendering a vaguely realistic police badge.

Can you imagine when Tracy reaches for his oversize badge and says, “Excuse me while I whip this out!”

    Here’s a link for Tundra:

After you read it you will agree that it does a better job of realistically portraying police work than DT.

I agree with you. The Phantom is more realistic than Dick Tracy, even though the hero runs around in purple long underwear.

Do you think he’s one of those, Panel-Panner?
