“We’re doomed!”. I’m beginning to feel the same way! Are we destined to seeing Tracy and Ennen in the tiger’s cage forever?

No, we’re doomed to have to sit through this for another week at least!

Don’t worry Dick. If Locher had you killed he’d be out
    of a comic strip job.

It’s important to have a straight necktie when you’re facing death…

The straight necktie will look nice in the casket, minus the shredded remains which will be cremated.

Llewellen, with the way this strip is going and losing papers, I think Locher will be writing his own way out of a job before too long. I just wish he didn’t have to take Dick Tracy with him.

Her alluring lips and supple thighs
The look she gave with bedroom eyes
    Her brea…oops wrong poem

Tracy stood rooted to the spot
Ennen wasn’t helping, not one jot
    His grip slip-sliding away
Fee Fi grimaced in a painful way
Why the tiger doesn’t turn and rend
Won’t be explained by Lochers pen
The sense of doom was settling down
We read the strip with deepening frowns
The stories progress is slow and painful
    Our comments become more disdainful
We perhaps should mind our manners
And realize this strip has planners
    Whose feelings may be shattered
If they thought we really mattered
But they don’t and show it quite starkly
By producing each day this malarkey

Thank you Sydney, for your comment yesterday.

Once again, we have come here
But nothing’s changed once more, I fear
We seem to be stuck in a loop
While Tracy deals with this circus group
    By standing back and cowering
    And all the readers glowering
    I truly fail to understand
What happened to this action man?
One in body in mind, he was fit
Now it seems that both have quit
Long ago, he was a force of one
(or at least remembered that they had a gun)
But no, not now, I fear
He needs Trazer and spine replacement (how weird)
The plot Locher seeks to circumvent
    Another strip wasted and spent
And as this poems winds along it’s way
I realize… DIDN’T WE HAVE THE SAME STRIP YESTERDAY?!

Is there an app for taming tigers in Tracy’s iWatch? Quick, tell Diet Smith to develop one so he can download it!

You know, we’ve seen Tracy hang 30 stories from his foot on a scaffold, nearly pinioned by a railrod spike to the chest, almost crushed by a boulder, nearly starved to death, and asphixiated by a chugging motorcycle…BUT…in all my years I have never heard Tracy utter those words before…

    We’re doomed!

I can honestly say that DL has completely reversed the great detective’s personality 180 degrees!!!

    SHEESH!!!

  18. fishbulb

fishbulbGenius_badge said, about 1 month ago

Well, at least DL remembered the cage door was locked. So, a whole week of this and nothing has really changed! And the arthritic tiger still can’t spin around and bite off Fee Fi’s hands.

andyh40: I can honestly say that in all the adventure comics and all the adventure novels I’ve read, and in all the adventure movies and TV shows I’ve seen, I have never heard the hero use those words. Heroes think and then act, even when the odds are very long (and they always succeed, of course).
This is very sad. If I remember right, today isn’t the first time Tracy has used the “D” word. I think he also said it a couple of days or so ago.
Next thing you know, he’ll be pushing Agent Ennen in front of him and throwing her to the lion, hoping it’ll fill up on her and will lose interest in him.

Fee Fi was ticked off at himself.
“Of all the billions and billions of people in this world I could risk my life for and I get stuck with this pathetic coward of a detective”.
Fee Fi began to contemplate letting go and letting the deformed Tiger do his thing.
    Tracy, his knees shaking yelled out loud;
“We can’t get out! The cage door is locked”!
Dick felt his stomach getting tighter as a paralyzing fear grabbed hold of him.
“He’s slipping away” Fe Fi lied as he prepared to let go of the Tigers tail.
    “Can’t hold him much longer”!
Tracy, ready to have a heart attack instinctively went to his happy place - the Star Wars universe he loved so dearly.
“We’re Doomed”! He blurted out, channeling C3PO.
Agent Ennen realized the smell of the circus suddenly intensified.

Today, I scratch my head and ponder,
On which is really longer …
    A Tiger’s tail
    Or Locher’s snail trail, tale?

Now, having opened with some verse,
Let’s examine Dicky’s offering, our master of reverse !

It’s been SEVENTY-TWO (72) daily panels, and in that time WHAT has HAPPEMED? … (to use Ringo’s word) ? It’s —

TWO weeks (9-21 to10-03) of just “STANDING” and TALKING (36 panels of explanation time I called it !)

ONE week (10-06) eighteen (18) panels off Tracy and Ennen just STANDING in the Cage … waiting, for the Tiger to charge and bleating out (like a sheep?) … “I’m helpless”!

ONE week (10-13) Another eighteen (18) panels “STANDING”, just to watch Fee Fi holding, a slipping away Tigers tail, “We’re doomed” … a frozen, frightened Tracy could only wail !

In this long “time-frame” (as readers will - remember), Gould had his crime commited and a “moving” CHASE just going fine ! (no waiting till - December !)

What can we say of this long delay ?
Before the hungry Tiger slips away
What must we think, a “genius” that can disrupt
My sipping coffee from a Dick Tracy cup ?

By reader comment … he’s daily flayed
For “Action” like Jackson … inordinate, delayed
    A Reuben for Dicky, a pyrrihic , “stand-up” man !
But at his age you’re forced to wonder if, he really can (?)

Listen to Tracy narrate. This isn’t a comic strip, it’s a radio show!

If only Tracy could call for back up on his wrist radio. I guess the tent does not have wifi for the wrist genie?

I keep waiting for the cut to HQ where they can see on a computer screen that they are captured in a cage. From previous shots of the Chief’s spartan office, I guess they downsized the high tech.

With the tent flap openings changing on a daily basis, they should be able to shout to the next-door trailer for help.

    SIGH

Only a couple more months of this until we catch up with B.O.!
