Chester Gould, a veteran cartoonist, began drawing his most legendary character, the dashing and daring Dick Tracy for the newspaper comics page in 1931. Modeled in the image of the innovative Sherlock Holmes, Gould was inspired to create new crime-fighting technology, including the two-way wrist TV, closed circuit TV police line-up and the engineless car that took Dick Tracy to the moon (both literally and figuratively).
Although many remember him with fond nostalgia, Dick Tracy, now written and illustrated by Dick Locher, continues to be relevant as he combines old-fashioned values with 21st century innovation to capture corporate crooks, computer pirates, polluters, skyjackers, gang members and terrorists.

Ringo: “Tracy, there’s something you should know - it was the elephant”
Tracy: “Well that was solved quickly”

“it’s a secret, I could tell you, but then I’d have to find a decent writer.”

My iPhone took so long to post so I kept tapping it, sorry. I don’t have access to a computer at the moment.

Now, now, if Matt keeps his profound speech daily, why can’t Joe be allowed to speed and try to reach Matt?
About Richard Tracy… man! what it’s all about?
…
…
…
Oh! I remember! IT HAPPENED!
IMHO, Calvin and Hobbes have more suspense than DT, nowadays.

Why was she painting in mid-air to begin with?
I have a free wooden (circa 1948) drafting table for anyone interested, by the way.
Preferential treatment given to A-team members.

Great - I’m off that week for Sukkot! I shall observe both.
Does that mean the earth will be much colder that day?

Why don’t they do like Calvin and Hobbs or the Peanuts strip and just start Dick Tracy right back at the beginning in the Chester Gould years? They could go on for years and years doing that and make Dick Tracy more popular than ever.

Amazingly, Mattie has drawn all the comments away from the strip and now have them focused on himself. Maybe he just wants a little attention.

Is it true that the dick known as Tracy will up and disappear?

I like the way you held up a “mirror” for Matthew’s post with the line …
” TO BE CONTINUED … ”
I guess he’ll get the next Chapter on October 4 ?
Why do I feel, he’ll put on a “silencer” for us on that day ?
Where Locher to leave now, he’d be going out on the “backside”of the most boring and poorly structered Dick Tracy story I’ve seen in sixteen years. His contract runs until end 2010, but these days it’s like the current story …
It has no meaning

The woman at the FBI is talking to herself in the 1st and 2nd panels.
She’s right. When a person is shot and killed in the presence of several hundred people, how can it be kept quiet?
fleeglebeagle said, 2 months ago
10-4, hmmmm??? Sounds like a code…..
Joe Allen: Kept quiet because the FBI say so!

If the powers that be start to censor out the comments which give most of the only really entertaining material here, I will take DT off my reading list as i did once before for awhile when Liam was threatening everyone with banishment, if they didn’t say only nice things about this travesty of a strip. The DT strip only serves as a conversation starter. It is far from good in it’s own right.
