Chester Gould, a veteran cartoonist, began drawing his most legendary character, the dashing and daring Dick Tracy for the newspaper comics page in 1931. Modeled in the image of the innovative Sherlock Holmes, Gould was inspired to create new crime-fighting technology, including the two-way wrist TV, closed circuit TV police line-up and the engineless car that took Dick Tracy to the moon (both literally and figuratively).
Although many remember him with fond nostalgia, Dick Tracy, now written and illustrated by Dick Locher, continues to be relevant as he combines old-fashioned values with 21st century innovation to capture corporate crooks, computer pirates, polluters, skyjackers, gang members and terrorists.

Now the notes are back to being ransom notes. So how did they get from the circus to wherever they are being examined?
Sigh……

The FBI must be pinching pennies - she’s booked on “Airline”, the generic carrier.

What IS that double-header machine that’s being used on the so-called “ransom notes”?
Do forensic investigators actually use something like that, or is it something Dick Locher THINKS should be used?

Tracy must have accidentally stepped into Crazy Glue. “Stuck”, He’s been in the Center of the ring like Rosie for 5 WEEKS and will STILL be there when FBI Agent Karen Ennen (that’s her name) FLYS in 2 WEEKS from now !
I’ve looked ahead. he’ll be there for a total of EIGHT weeks and FOUR days. “Guinness” might be interested
Why is this important? Really to undress a strip to reveal where “forward” movement is near nonexistent.. Gould “waffled”a bit in his final year with Perfume (1977) But I can say that in his final year (starting with Angelorious) Locher even forgot to have his Waffle iron “plugged” in.
This is a non story and If Mattie comes on to tell us it’s his last, it will leave a bad taste. He’s not a Great artist but when he puts his mind to it can be quite “creative” on villain design side. But done nothing fo 3 years
His strenght at story telling will be for kids at night, quickly putting them “to sleep”.
Look at Agent Ennen, I suspect just a (physical) diversion, like Tess’ credit card scam - nothing more. As she purses her lips “readying” for her “Blabber Mouth” exercise. Specifically disobaying orders. Does Locher like women ?

Did Locher also write the “About Dick Tracy” column on the right? He credits himself for both writing and illustrating. Adios, Brozman.
The double-header machine is a stereoscope for looking at the notes in 3D since Tracy not only has flat feet but flat eyes.

The “About” column is probably done by the distributor, almost certainly not by the creative talent. These blurbs are often way behind any personnel changes.

THEY ARE NOT RANSOM NOTES!!!!
A ransom note would demand some type of remuneration.
They are thretening letters! Sheesh!!!
Fearless_Fosdick said, 2 months ago
Tracy, our analysis of the notes indicates there were two authors…….The Chicago Tribune, and Newsweek.

I know why the FBI wants to keep the local police out. And, I didn’t have to look ahead! From past experience, they know when they have some action in Naperville, that “send in the clowns” is codespeak, knowing it is a sure thing that Macy will show up, contaminate all of the evidence, and virtually screw up their entire case. Matter-of-fact, whenever a crime involves Tracyland, the Director et al roll their eyes, knowing all their good work is for naught.

so much as passed since his sad “I’m outta here” farewell speech!
what words of informed wisdom will he bestow on us humble servants ?
If only I had a time machine to go forward to the magic, holy day, september 4…..a day that will surely be a holy day of obligation in the years to come..

Hate to burst your bubble nighthawks, but it’s OCTOBER 4 that’s being foretold as the great day. However, if Sidney is correct about the pace of the story (and he usually is), we will still be stuck in the same circus.

Maybe she’s trying to memorize the emergency procedures from the seatback card someone lifted from an airliner. That would beat Tom Clancy any day!

So, um, Matthew Hansel, have you set up a bot to post WATCH THIS SPACE ON OCTOBER 4, 2009!!!!!!! every day from now until then (possibly varying the number of exclamation points at random) or are you doing it manually?

I think I have it now!
That panel with the double-header machine is a flashback showing how the notes were PRODUCED - by an alien intelligence.
This would also explain the distorted architecture in the FBI offices. The offices are actually the interior of a huge UFO hovering invisibly above the scene of action.
Sorry, that last word should read: “non-action”.

No, no, no, no, no! Make it stop! Make it start! Anything, just get this stupid story going! I havent read this thing in two weeks and it’s in the same stupid spot. I’m sorry, stupid is a strong word, but what else fits? We keep looking at the same two not-ransom notes. They move around in time and space while Dick is stuck at the Circus. Is the show still going on? Are Tess and the daughter still in the audience? Or have we moved on? What the heck is going on with the FBI? Please, oh please, move this train wreck along!
