Chester Gould, a veteran cartoonist, began drawing his most legendary character, the dashing and daring Dick Tracy for the newspaper comics page in 1931. Modeled in the image of the innovative Sherlock Holmes, Gould was inspired to create new crime-fighting technology, including the two-way wrist TV, closed circuit TV police line-up and the engineless car that took Dick Tracy to the moon (both literally and figuratively).
Although many remember him with fond nostalgia, Dick Tracy, now written and illustrated by Dick Locher, continues to be relevant as he combines old-fashioned values with 21st century innovation to capture corporate crooks, computer pirates, polluters, skyjackers, gang members and terrorists.

August.
The new story doesn’t start until August.
“Traze-R vs the Evil Casinos”
Seriously, how many of the regular posters here can tell, without checking, how long the current Casino story has been going on? How long has it been since the Traze-R robot bit the dust?
Anyone?

Feels like it has been since Christmas. Hopefully, this is the end. That is, unless the charges of entrapment come out.

Dick got the phone call from Gravel Gertie that kicked off this “story” on March 3, while he and Tess (or somebody with a humongous head vaguely resembling Tess) were bemoaning what could have been in their endeavor with Angel(g)lorious.
Over four months ago. Just seems like four years.

I don’t understand what he is saying in the last panel, it makes no sense to me!!!

The only people who are enjoying this are (1) the authors and (2) Mattie, who thinks anything the authors do is genius. This is pure cr*p. A moron could duplicate this level of work.

Well Said although are you sure about the “authors”?
Another day wasted on stupid re-cap nonsense and another bad pun. How Sad. At least the comments are exciting and refreshing!

I see some time saving value to the first 2 panels in as much as they can be used over and over again, just change the dialog. This is an old stradegy of “Use Old .. Make New”. This of course would leave more time for the monkey to develop the storyline…. Just a thought.

This story was bad but not the worst. Remember the DT story about the airport a few years back? That one set new standards. I literally had no idea what was going on.

I don’t remember when this story line began, but at the onset wasn’t there a teaser from Tess about unauthorized charges on her credit card statement?
The most dissapointing part, while she was mentioned in passing, there was no flashback providing one last look at old Queenie from the Blue Diamond caper.
Mmmm….almonds….

hey, what happened to the person that was going to draw up their own version of DT?
the guy (I think)said he was going to get started, months ago…..
maybe it turned out to be harder or more time consuming than he thought…..
but how hard can it be to draw and ink in a daily strip and create a semblance of a story….
anybody can do that— just read the comments

I thought the story with the robots was quite silly. I think this is 1 of the better stories in quite some time, until it started 2 tail off at the end…

Chester Gould must be turning in his grave every day that this continues.

So….very…..stupid…..
I am still trying to figure out what the heck the thermal card business was about. If Big Ace acknowledged the money was his then he was tied in with kidnapping/assault/attempted robbery and other pointless mayhem of previous weeks.
I know this is “only” a comic strip, but sadly I’m old enough to remember when it was a decent comic strip. Are any newspapers still even running it?

I’ve just beem lamblasted and disrespected elsewhere for being “right” but, it’s claimed “disrespecting” Locher.
And then, I read this Board !
To translate the thoughts here It seems MORE like the Author’s “dispespecting” the Dick Tracy comic strip. You really shouldn’t “bite” the hand that feeds you.
It’s almost like “wailing” for a board of members whose only function here is to shower “respect” on the Author. Not one criticizing word, or suffer expulsion !
And some people seem to have their priorities upside down. Standing by, showering “respect” on the man that is ruthlessly and naively tossing out or ignoring most techniques that “worked” in the “Great House” that “CHESTER” built !
In this trough of misery which “Dick” are we really honoring

I’ve got an idea! Let’s just recap the last story from now on. The syndicate will buy anything, as long as it says DICK TRACY in the upper left corner….
