Chester Gould, a veteran cartoonist, began drawing his most legendary character, the dashing and daring Dick Tracy for the newspaper comics page in 1931. Modeled in the image of the innovative Sherlock Holmes, Gould was inspired to create new crime-fighting technology, including the two-way wrist TV, closed circuit TV police line-up and the engineless car that took Dick Tracy to the moon (both literally and figuratively).
Although many remember him with fond nostalgia, Dick Tracy, now written and illustrated by Dick Locher, continues to be relevant as he combines old-fashioned values with 21st century innovation to capture corporate crooks, computer pirates, polluters, skyjackers, gang members and terrorists.

That guy on the left of the third panel has obviously discovered the secret to antigravity and the removal of knees

Art work good, characters off kilter, yet Dick Tracy apprehend’s
criminal(s).

Once upon a time, other casinos were doing the same thing, but apparently not anymore.
Time for another story about casinos and characters dressed as cards. (note Spacy is still making bad card puns).

Hold it ! Another “texter” has fallen into an open manhole in Naperville. If he’d been paying attention he’d have realized that if it was Big Ace’s thugs that did the “robbing”, Big Ace would’ve heard promptly what happened to his own men.
SO, No need to have ever ‘phoned Jack for his money ! Story credibility also collapses into open manhole.
“610, Thermal thumb needed” !
But it’s good to see Tracy reporting in to HQ, albeit a little thinner. Still loose, but no cannon ! But Lizz worries me. Looking more like Buzz everytime I see her. Perhaps that’s why Tracy spends little time in HQ. What ever happened to sex appeal in females in DT.
Brozmzn needs to take his pen out and give lizz a feminne india ink “injection” !

But what if those people other than B.O. put their money in the bank? If you had that much cash, surely you would not keep it at home. The tax man has already taken his cut at the casino, so there is nothing to hide from them. The entire premise of this story fell apart in the first week. What insipid adventure lies in wait for us now?

The most stupid evil plan I have ever seen.

I’m sending off my script for a new DT movie to Warren Beatty. Taking place in the 70s Sparkle Plenty a country singer is kidnapped. A slew of former foes are involved. Willie Nelson will play BO, Reba Mackyntre will play Gertie. The music will be Country Western throughout.

I really don’t see why DT’s hand is sticking out in panel 1. Is he gesturing for Liz to walk into that window/filing cabinet? Was he going to shake her hand, and missed? It seems intentionally awkward.

No wonder they’re all alkimbo - they musta realized Friday the 13th falls on a Monday this month!

The artwork is brilliant! B.O. looks like he has a hangover, must have shot down some moonshine when he found out he could keep the loot…

@ Grokenstein: maybe it’s recap and trade.
Never as bad as cap and trade.

Pathetic. No thought went into this at all. It’s as if nobody is even writing this strip anymore.

Panel one is a classic example of what Locher CAN do if he wants to “rev” up pacing in the sprip. A one panel repesentation to discharge the obligation to HQ. No time to wait around , “important” things must be hammered home, repeated three or four times to make sure little Johny undersands every bit of it.
I feel sorry for the man EVERY footboard on the staicase to his Attic has been blown away, splintered by his working flaws. and fans determined not let up !.
It’s in times like this that he holds desperatly to those framed words - “It’s just a comic strip” - and then he smiles..That explains it all ! “It’s just that those “Magpies” (thank you Matt) don’t understand or appreciate “brilliance” when everything is so simply laid out for them”.

Does anybody from Tribune Media Services read this stuff, or even care? I find it very interesting that this site, such as it is, is the more or less official home of Dick Tracy on the Internet, and that the daily feedback for the strip is almost universally negative (and justifiably so). King Features recently revived Prince Valiant by bringing in a pair of top-flight comics creators. Certainly there are talented people there who would love a chance to riff on Dick Tracy. Hell, maybe even let different artists work on it for set periods (something that’s proven a big success in superhero comics). Really, try anything but more of the same poorly drawn, horribly written, nonsensical and inane tired strip.

Chief Liz got it right: Tracy pulled a caper and did nothing to solve the case.

The texter comment was awful. Hah!
Overall, I don’t mind this art style, but I’m very laid-back regarding this stuff. That being said, I really look forward to this new storyline, as it will be the first one I follow on this website.
Excellent, Ogden doesn’t look too bad, does he? :)

Liz(z) must have gotten a promotion. Her Capt.’s bars suddenly turned to stars (as they are supposed to be). Congrats, Liz(z)! Is it “affirmative action” that did the deed?

How many more times are they going to rub our noses in this mess? We get the idea! It was a silly idea and you went real slow. We kept up, we took notes, we made comments. You dont need to keep wrapping it up for us, please stop, for criminy sakes! To quote Monty Python, “GET ON WITH IT!”
