I don’t get this cartoon. Is Obama being rosy about something in particular? Maybe it’s his statements that the Republicans will see reason and pay the debts they racked up…

It’s pretty simple really — it’s raining inside the studio but Obamination insists on forecasting a sunny, bright day. It’s a comment about those of us who live in reality vs. our “leader” who lives in a dreamworld. Or, worse yet, thinks we’re all stupid enough to believe his rhetoric so he can carry out his communist agenda of destroying America.

Personally i think it’s a statement of living in a false sense of security, in particular I suppose about the economy. Unfortunately it seems everybody already has their back to the wall on the debt ceiling and is staking out their positions. Most frustrating to me:
    *
Obama asserting we don’t have a spending problem. I also think he left the door open for further tax increases.
    *
The republicans just making general statements about spending and deficits but not putting forth a credible plan for change.
    *
I guess it’s SSDD (same shit different day)..

Using the Debt Ceiling as a threat will only hurt this country in the long run. Thanks for the thoughtful post mickey. Congress isn’t much better than the 112th. As a team, they are pitiful, and should be benched!

    Hello ARodney,
I’m glad I’m not the only one over who’s head these cartoons fly.
I think Coffeemom, despite her tone, is generally right. Mr. Obama does like to point out all of the good things his administration has done, and this annoys his most avid critics. The fact that he almost always qualifies his words with phrases like, “we still have a long way to go”, or, “there are still too many of our neighbors feeling the pain of this economy”, doesn’t often appear in their cartoons or editorials.
In the long run, Mickey1339 probably has the best assessment.
What made me comment on this cartoon was the consistency of Mr. Locher’s artwork re: Mr. Obama. There are many depictions of blacks from the revolutionary war until the early 1960’s with similarities to Mr. Locher’s style. With Gen. Powell’s comments yesterday about the Republican attitude to minorities, and other comments made about and to this President in other situations, it does not seem out of line to point out that other editorial artists, even those who are against Obama’s policies, do not ‘accent’ the president’s heritage as much as some of Mr. Locher’s works. I could be wrong, but, I remember watching Amos and Andy as a child in Mississippi. I often wonder if Republicans would have been more bipartisan had a white male been president. McConnall certainly didn’t mind working with Biden.
The situation is not sunny, and I don’t think Obama thinks it is, but I do believe he has a way to steer us out of stormy waters. Other presidents have been given a chance to steer our "ship of state’, he should be given the same chance, and respect.
    Respectfully,
    C.

The only thing missing are the Ozombies carrying O on their shoulders praising him for all the free things they get.

You need a snow shovel when O is speaking and a pooper scooper when congress is attempting to solve problems it created.

Gee, nothing at all like the photo-op and followup BJ shots by FoxNews when W brought in the cameras and Klieg lights after Katrina, right? Came in, set up the lights, W gave a rosy picture of all the good things FEMA had done, and then split.
