If the republicans don’t get the message about their platform and the changing American culture they will be lost. Hopefully disenchanted moderate republicans will look at the Libertarian party and find it much more “in touch,” but have practical solutions to many of the country’s problems. Check it out.

Eventually they will be totally out of relevance, but some of them think they are not extreme “right” enough. I would like the GOP ok if they would agree to tax the rich at the same rate as the rest of us. And if they would think of the good of the nation and people rather than obstructing everything because they won’t work with a democrat.

Everyone is talking about the death of the Republican Party, but I think the death notice is premature. Remember what happened to the Democrats with McGovern? If the moderate Republicans can regain control, then the party will be back and win more elections.

Libertarians have “practical solutions” I’m sorry, but, NO!
    .
Did you not notice that we just voted out the solutions of Randian Paul Ryan? We are telling you that we reject the notion of “Individual” priority and Lassez Faire government.
    .
Are you listening? Those days are gone.
    .
Meanwhile, The Democrats clobbered the Republicans so hard this last election that they are thinking of changing their mascot to The Thing!

I think “clobbering” is a bit of a strong word when a shift of only 0.5% of the electorate’s voting pattern would have reversed the outcome of the popular vote. (Although O would probably still have won the Electoral College easily)

The Republicans have a significantly different philosophy for handling money and budgets than Democrats do. Both philosophies have their place in my opinion. The strong embrace of the Republicans for socially conservative issues as well as their narrow attitude toward immigration has added unpleasant baggage to their platform which has turned away moderate voters.

Sadly, O won by a very few votes and not a landslide. The pendulum is going to swing back to Republican next election.

Only if the average American voter is an idiot with a very short memory who can easily be convinced to vote against their own best interest.

    Oh, wait…

“Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. but it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.”……Winston Churchill………Pull down the name and the Flag…..Restore Freedom and Achievement it or throw it on the Trash Heap of History……..Over taxation and Freebies leads to nowhere.

Yeah, no. They got clobbered! The Republicans didn’t even draw their base and they sure as heck didn’t draw any votes from Obama. The margins in some of the demographics and geographics are very wide. In NY Obama got better results in Texas than Mitt got in NY, CA, Ill or Ma (among the bigger states)
    .
Texas is R for now but it is becoming less so and it wasn’t long ago that Anne Richards was Governor. The trend is bad for R’s in all up coming demographics.
