Use Pat and Charlie for your travels as they charge you nothing and they keep you in shape.

I’d fly American, since they are the frugal airline that doesn’t squander money on bolts to keep the seats in place. Besides, it means that someone who wanted an aisle and didn’t get one in reservations might get one in turbulence!

You do know who runs the Senate and the White House right? This is life today.

Well, I wouldn’t recommend the tanker-car in the background either, there are just too much derailments in the U.S., one has to wonder what really is a safe way to travel in a country that doesn’t give a s—- anymore about anything…

The Tanker-car as pictured in not legal to run in the US.

Interesting. How can you tell? That manual
brake? Or is the tank to high above the
wheels (center of gravity)? I’m a bit
interested in railroad-stuff, so please tell me
    a bit more…

The old style wheel bearings of brass with oil bath lubrication. Only approved roller bearings are allowed. Also no impact shield protection on the end and the Hand brake type. The Car pictured was common in the early post war period. Hobos would typically pull the oil lub pads out and burn them for heat. RR Police would sometime explain the errors of their ways using an Axle handle.

Wow, you’re one eagle eyed dude! I hadn’t
even thought about looking at the kind of axle.
And hobos doing that is really bad, I agree.

I once was in the last car of a local train that
had some kind of problem when breaking. It
got worse at every station and when it was my
turn to get off I ran towards to conductor
and explained about smoke, smell and
terrible jolts whenever the brakes were
engaged. He looked at me in disbelieve but
I just pointed to the cloud of smoke still
coming from the car. The train continued to
the final destination at reduced speed.

    These things can get
very ugly very fast, so constant vigilance by
everyone is required, and people (hobos)
messing with railroad stock is simply
    unacceptable!

I came to the cartoon’s conclusion a long time ago. So if I go anywhere, I pack a lot of drinks, a few snacks, a bunch of quarters (in case of toll roads, depending where I’m going) and hop in my nice SUV and drive. It may take me longer to get there than flying, but to me, it’s safer.
