    Go fishing on a container vessel. Pick up all that oil that BP spilled that Isaac stirred up. You know, that stuff that wasn’t dispersed with untold quantities of ethylene glycol (which for those non-chemists out there is the main ingredient of antifreeze….the stuff that kills you).

    In the late 1970s I was working in Western Massachusetts. Some friends went off to Wyoming to work on oil rigs and get rich. They were back (with most of their fingers) in two months with lots of money and lots of stories of drunken nights and shooting guns for the fun of it. I asked why they returned if it was so much fun and so lucrative. They told me that the companies capped the wells….seems that if there was too much supply, the price would go down.

    Energy policy has been horrid since before the “Arab Oil Embargo”. This is why the Department of Energy was created…..to find and develop alternative energy to reduce costs, pollution, and dependence on oil from non-dependable countries. Decades of ignoring the problem has not helped. Choosing to continue to ignore the problem is not a wise decision.

    We’re producing more fossil energy than under most of the Bush administration, and the only thing the companies don’t like is, with more attention to regulations. They’re profits are doing just fine.

    the USA has higher petroleum and natural gas production then at any time in the past. we are the most energy independant since the 1980’s.

    much is due to drilling, much is due to conservation.

    so the republicans say “yes but it’s private drilling on private lands”.

    well isn’t that what the republicans want?

    @dannysixpack

    A faltering economy requires less fuel…..Increases in production is on Private land. Obama’s obstructing on what he has direct control over continues.

    This toon is a graphic mess! What is it supposed to be? A filling station? Only a crackhead would draw it this way… Sorry, Mr. Locher, but you lost me.

    It represents an abondoned gas station like an abdondoned energy plan. Of course he ignores the fact that we export more oil now than ever.

    ^ We are exporting more oil because we are consuming less oil. We are consuming less oil because no one is driving to work. No one is driving to work because there are no jobs. There are no jobs because of Obama. Ergo we are exporting more oil because of Obama.
