    Is it sure it’s a dog?

    It sounds like a bull dog…that is what I said he should get…it matches him…

    I agree, Jo. : ) A bull dog matches Sam, and it’s what we would expect. There’s also the possibility of something unexpected, like some smooshed-nose little fur ball. But I’m picturing Sgt. Snorkel and Otto. Can’t wait to see!

    A dog that grunts? Maybe it’s a pot-bellied dog. ??

    I agree with lichtentunes – just needs an “oink” to complete it.

    Reminds me of the story of a woman who took in a stray dog and bought it a leash,collar, food bowl, etc. Then when she took the odd looking mutt to the vet for shots she was informed that the “dog” was actually a sewer rat and had to be euthanized. (I believe ti’s an urban legend).

    It might be a mutation or escaped GMO experiment.

    @RedSamRackham

    I’ve seen such rats and they are big and no one would confuse them with a dog.

    Hubby and I were traveling through Baltimore when we saw a large black cat sitting quietly on a corner. It did not seem to have a collar. However, circling back to pick it up . . . yup, it was a huge rat. EWwwwwwww!
