Deep Cover’s unique style of provocative political satire has won it a loyal following. Using an unusual mini-movie storytelling format, recovering lawyer Tim Eagan punctures pompous personalities, deflates bloviators, and attempts to shine light where it is most needed. This outrageous strip appears in mainstream and alternative West Coast papers and has been described as "Tom the Dancing Bug meets Ted Rall."

The problem with this comic, and the mindset of so many of our citizens… is that those commands from God are for the people, not the government. It is OUR duty as disciples and believers to take care of the needy — the poor, the hungry, the sick, the orphans, the widows — and watch after one another. Jesus did not tell us to form governments to do these things for us.

The problem with this comment is that the commenter is unaware of reality.
In this country, the government is the people and the people are the government. We the People of the United States of America!
Not we the White People or We the Christian People or we the Wealthy People or we the Fortunate People, just We the People.
The “government” is US and we are committed to the well-being of ALL of US or we shall surely find chaos and ruin.

I have a dusty old black book that says, “Give unto Caesar” What if Caesar decides to build the patriotism, moral fabric, and physical condition of our youth by giving a tax paid grant to the Boy Scouts and you are gay? What if you object to tax money going to an obvious religious front, say St Jude’s Hospital? Worse yet, what if they give a medical research grant to Harvard and you sang “Boola Boola” through your undergrad years?
What will your son’s tuition be if my contribution to my dear old Alma Marta is reduced by a third by taxes. What happens when the doctors tell you your daughter will die because the cancer ward donated by Mr Generous Moneybags could not be completed because of federal taxes.
Though not so old and dusty as my black book, I have a paper that states that Congress shall tax only to pay debt, common defense, and general welfare. Nope, don’t say a word about Boy Scouts, hospitals, medical research, colleges or the life of an individual. But some think those men wouldn’t be in Washington if they didn’t know what they were doing. They will tax us 35% on our donations to the homeless shelter so they can give a grant to study homeless pigeons.
You say they know better than the indiviual where you want your money to go.That’s why we formed this country, to let the government run every aspect of our lives.

I don’t say this, you say I say it.
I have an old black book, too… but mine’s not dusty.

“When the Church gives money, 100 percent gets to the person it is intended for.”

Depends on the Church… and it depends on how they define “the person it is intended for”.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. If there is a god and if that god is our “parent” don’t people realize that there comes a time when the children leave home and live and think for themselves? And is not a government “by the people” the collective thinking of those grown children banding together for mutual benefit? But who is benefitting now? The answer is a new aristocracy of wealth doing their best to undo the populist notion of a democratic republic. Prior to the American Revolution, there was only one other representative government in the history of the world. Since 1776, representative government has become a normative condition that nation-states have been gravitating towards. It is a sad, sad thing that the nation who brought that to the modern world is careening towards becoming the first to abandon it.

“It will be easier for a camel to pass thru the eye of a needle than for a Richpublican to get into congress”. Or so it would be if the American people wake up and see that Republicons work for the monied interests not the people.
