Deep Cover’s unique style of provocative political satire has won it a loyal following. Using an unusual mini-movie storytelling format, recovering lawyer Tim Eagan punctures pompous personalities, deflates bloviators, and attempts to shine light where it is most needed. This outrageous strip appears in mainstream and alternative West Coast papers and has been described as "Tom the Dancing Bug meets Ted Rall."

damifino - It is considered rude to type with all caps in a public forum.
It’s the virtual equivalent of shouting.
Considering the insulting nature of your post, you may not be concerned with being considered rude.

I have a doctor friend who emigrated from Canada to get away from the system Obama wants here. I wonder what my friend will do now.
And don’t give me any bull about how the Big O’s just setting up an alternative choice of insurance programs in competition with the insurance companies. I’m taking bets on how long that pretense will last.

Government insurane. Do I take a number or just stand at the back of the line?

Back in the 60’s an english friend of mine told me to never accept government health care. He said you end up having to go “outside” the gov’t insured providers to get adequate care – he said his back injury was a prime example that gov’t healthcare couldn’t “fix” but private care did. Gov’t messes up anything it touches, except what it’s good at - defending our country (put effort there where it belongs).

Those big insurance conglomerates made fortunes off the medical industry and certainly don’t want any “socialized” competition.

You want to provide government healthcare fine. Just as long as thre president and congress have the exact same plans as we get and they pay the same amount for it..

Excellent idea, Charles. Although I’d be happy even if the President were exempted, as long as the rest of his family was in the plan.

Wow. I’m starting to hate Go comics. Everything is so political in here. I come here to get away from the frustrations of the news, and political world.
Sheesh…….

hookedoncomics - I tend to agree although it isn’t everyone or everywhere here on Gocomics.
Some comics attract more Trolls than others and some Trolls are more offensive than others.
I can’t believe anyone thinks they are accomplishing anything by arguing things like Politics and Religion here.
But they do anyway.
Akenta said, 5 months ago
hookedoncomics if you stay away from the editorial cartoons, it’s usually safer. Occasionally, there will be a topic on another comic that will bring in the trolls, but a lot of them are just plain fun.

I wonder how many of the liberals out their whom call conservatives trolls are actually hermit trolls themselves. Living in seclusion, loners, unemployed, dying of STDS, never held a job, felon, drugged, common thief and just waiting for the next government hand out.

striper - There are Trolls on both sides of the political spectrum.
A Troll is simply someone who believes they need to shove their own philosophy down the throats of others in an inappropriate manner or place.
You are one of the foremost examples on this site currently.
People are tired of this nonsense on Gocomics.
Please take it elsewhere.
An occasional comment on subject to the comic is one thing.
Long angry rants and unjustified attacks are out of place here.
I flag Trolls.
I hope Gocomics deals with them as they have in the past.
Account canceled, bye.

You always seem to mentioned the word troll towards conservative remarks. But you always side with the liberals when they are doing the exact thing and at a further degree.
Then you turn right around and agree you read the comics for the vitriol.
Chemistry. any of certain metallic sulfates of glassy appearance, as copper sulfate or blue vitriol, iron sulfate or green vitriol, zinc sulfate or white vitriol, etc.
oil of vitriol; sulfuric acid.
something highly caustic or severe in effect, as criticism.
I am sure you were speaking of definition #3.
You basically just want to agree with the very liberal left.
By the way you do not own this site.

striper - The only comic I enjoy the ‘vitriol’ on is Quigmans, because farleftside and crew make it fun.
I do admit to what I call ‘Troll Baiting’ on occasion.
I feel it is in the best interests of the Gocomics community to draw them out and identify them.
That way the rest of us know who to avoid - and flag.
I do have as much issue with left Trolls as right.
At the present time the only thing the left Trolls are angry about is the right Trolls.
The right Trolls are angry about a lot of things, so they stand out more for now.
I’m a moderate, I think the extremists on both sides are out of touch with reality.

striper77/freebird77/stripper is a troll in the sense that he posts disruptive off-topic inflammatory material, and, when asked to stop, simply responds as if someone asked for more. He also posts the same content in multiple locations, so it’s clearly not part of a discussion about, or comment on, the cartoon at the top of the page.
I’m open to the possibility that this person doesn’t really understand the difference between “relevant” and “off-topic” material. He may only be concerned about spreading his blinkered thoughts about “truth” as they occur to him, as widely as possible. In that sense, his primary motivations may not be to inflame or deceive, although he undercuts this by posting under more than one name at a time.

Randy_B - The solution is simple. Gocomics takes providing a good community environment seriously.
Flag the Trolls every time you see them.
The comments are reviewed, and if the powers that be agree that they are inflammatory, the account is banned.

Randy B,
You do not like my comments because you are on the far left side. I have put up numerous articles that shows some of the very disturbing items that the democrats and the Obama administration are doing. Some of them are very disturbing. You always disagree with them or state it is the right wing side stating the information. The information I am providing, is out their in numerous places. The reason I post this information is because most of the liberals out their including yourself do not really know what Obama is doing or you know exactly what he is doing and is completely for it. With any amount of research you can see it is extremely disturbing. If you are for (Obama) it you must have some serious problems.
They are others whom see some of the disturbing items Obama is doing and they post their comments. People like yourself, far left, Matthew and doctortoon go after them tooth and nail in an effort to dilute what they said. This is disturbing to me.
As far as flagging my comments and the threats drtoon (frozen foods manager) is stating. I have yet to hear anything from gocomics on any of them.
The liberals and yourself are going to the other end pushing a water down version of what Obama is doing. I am just adding the facts to it.

Randy B,
You may just want to bury your head in the sand and trust Obama and the democrats for everything but the main problem with the universal health care is as follows:
Right now, as you read this letter, politicians in Washington are scheming behind closed doors to impose a massive government-run health care system on the American people.
Forget, for just a moment, the 1.6 trillion cost to taxpayers for the “downpayment” on this plan. Forget, for just a moment, that the cost of Obama-Kennedy-Pelosi-Care will bankrupt the nation.
What should really concern you is not its cost… but rather its callousness.
Probably the most horrifying aspect of Obama-Kennedy-Pelosi-Care is that it will actually limit your family’s health care choices, put government bureaucrats and accountants in charge of your family’s medical decisions, and enable these government bureaucrats to actually play God - deciding who gets what treatment and when.
The dirty little secret is that Barack Obama’s and Teddy Kennedy’s and Nancy Pelosi’s idea of “reforming” American health care seems to be Less Care for All, Little or No Care for Some.
Here’s what political pundit Dick Morris recently wrote on the subject:
“[T]heir secret emerges: They are going to cut medical costs by cutting medical care. … decisions will not be medical but financial. They will not be based on a doctor’s opinion of what his or her patient needs, but a bureaucrat’s and an accountant’s opinion of what the new health care system can afford.”
“And you will not be able to bypass their rulings and pay for this care yourself. The rules laid down must be followed and private payments will not be permitted to override them. What we now call a private fee for service will metastasize into a bribe.
“But this is just the very beginning… rationing is coming, and coming soon.”
Rationing of services? Denial of choice? Is that the kind of “reform” you want?
If you need a CAT Scan or an MRI, forget it. If you need antibiotics, maybe - only if they’re approved by the federal government. As for potentially life-saving or life-extending treatments, take a number and stand in line.
Is this why our so-called leaders in Washington want to bankrupt the nation in the name of “reform?”
This is perhaps the biggest fight for freedom in a generation. It is about the liberty to make our own health care decisions, in consultation with the doctors of our choice, rather than the federal government doing it for us!
You may want a watered down version of the free county health clinics and Medicaid, but if it is going to look like the above version it is going from bad to worse.
rlsaxion said, 5 months ago
The problem is that the government should not be REQUIRING us to do anything. Little thing called freedom of choice…or maybe it is the freedom part that folks are having trouble with?

striper77,
Why do you assume that everyone who disagrees with you (on anything) is on the “far left side”? I know what I’ve posted on this site, and it reflects my independent, moderate, non-ideological opinions. (You seem to be confusing me with some of the other contributors here.) FYI, I’m still registered as a Republican, but since the current party leadership liked John Ensign and Mark Sanford over Colin Powell, they won’t get any of my financial support.
Part of the problem with modern “politics” are the ideas that (1) pure, simple ideologies contain all the answers to complex problems, (2) there can be no rational basis for disagreement with one’s chosen ideology, and (3) any opponents are intrinsically evil, can’t be negotiated with, and must be eliminated (from power, visibility, society, existence). See http://www.publiceye.org/conspire/toxic2democracy/media.html for an analysis of modern conspiracism that reaches the same conclusions about the “Tools of Fear”. (Most of its examples come from right-wing conspiracism, but it includes left-wing conspiracism.)
By the way, quoting random stuff from the web without attribution (“Right now, as you read this letter…”) doesn’t impress me. Post a link the next time you find something that you think we must see.
