To be a little fair, Toyota and Honda haven’t had the much trouble with quality control, but if the economy down there does pick up with Boeing et al, how long before “cheap” wages won’t be enough?
After being in the south though, I can appreciate the cartoon.

NO NO NO Three new cartoons in a row without a chance to comment!
They are all good, so take the time to go back and look at the other two.
I know this cartoon will upset the conservatives, and I have to agree with them it is not nice to make fun dogs by calling them lazy – not all dogs are lazy, many of them do important things, and make the world better, unlike all of those union people who just lay around all day and demand more pay.

BMW- Michelin think SC workers are just fine to build X3-X5 and Z4s. So why not Boeing ? you Yankee @hole Horesyass.

Typical northern elitist BS! Look what unions have done to the auto industry. Come take a tour of Martin Marietta to see what southerners can do with high tech!

What an idiotic backassward cartoon. Everyone that has ever worked in a company with union workers knows that they are far less productive on average.

This is pretty mean – and inappropriate – to the South. Evidently his anger at Boeing moving out from Seattle has blinded Horsey enough to do a stupidly stereotypical cartoon. There is a reason that Toyota, Suburu, and Honda are all building their cars and trucks in the South. And there’s plenty of culture down there, too. At least in North Carolina, where I grew up…

Is this the same Martin Marietta whose O-ring got stiff in the cold and blew up the space shuttle?
dtroutma said, 17 days ago
That was a subcontract, but EVERY engineer said “DO NOT LAUNCH UNTIL TEMPERATURES COME UP ON THE O RINGS”, but they wanted Reagan’s teacher in space on HIS schedule. So the “politicos” ignored the engineers.
The O ring failure was immediately visible, but the CYA for the administration went on forever.
My brother retired from Martin- they had many more costly failures than this.
motivemagus said, 17 days ago
dtroutma, quite right. I remember the late, great Dr. Richard Feynman not only demonstrated it on national television – he dropped a chunk of the O-ring’s plastic into icewater, pulled it out, and snapped it like peanut brittle – but insisted in an addendum to the report that blame be placed properly on the politicians who wanted the teacher in space for Reagan’s State of the Union address, as planned, and overrode the engineers. Reagan was cutting funding for education, but hey! He had a teacher in space! The others on the investigating committee were being politically sensitive, but Feynman wouldn’t accept that cr@p. I’ll never forget that day. Thanks, Ronnie.

What do you expect from a State with the lowest public school rating in the Nation? This is a good old GOP State where the ruling class stays in power.

The big corporations go where the labor is cheap and the government can be bought with the profits not paid to the workers –or to the state revenue service– and nobody is the wiser.

kat. You’re right – it’s so sad but so true.
Free Enterprise always ends up costing everyone (except big busniess) a lot.
Am I the only they felt sorry for the dog?
