So Osama is going to attack three of his and the Demoncrat Party’s biggest campaign contributors?
ROFL.
Suuuuure…

@ Scott: and why do you think they contributed so much? The goodness of their heart?
But yes, he would need a bigger shot. Better yet, it might be a good time to repeal the 1999 act and break them up.

That is nearly blasphemy comparing Obama to David.

Hey, I understand the idea of making the companies big. The idea is that banks in other nations (were) able to do things that banks in this country could not and so our banks were losing business and autonomy around the world (Hong Kong Shanghai bank owns what used to be Marine Midland Bank for example).
The banks needed to be allowed to regrow themselves into the Goliathian firms that they are today or we’d be even more owned by foreign lenders than we are beholden to them now.
I understand this, and while I think there was and is a crying need for a high level of regulation and that the repeal of Glass Steagle without a new set of regs to replace it was a Titan sized mistake, I don’t think it annoys me as much as this…
The point here is that we have done everything we can to make American businesses competitive, except for the one thing that makes the most sense.
SINGLE PAYER, GOVERNMENT FUNDED, GOVERNMENT MANDATED HEALTH CARE FOR ALL!
Every one of our trading competitors subsidize their employer force by paying for health care. Why don’t we? How can we ever win with that additional weight on our shoulders! It will always be cheaper to have the work done elsewhere when the cost of healthcare rises at 5 times the rate of price increases for the products we make (even greater if the product you make comes with a service department!)
Thank you Horsey, again for giving me the space to drop the rant that has been weighing on my mind.

And “Too Big to fail” is an easy fix.
Admit that there is such a thing as “TBTF” and the second your company becomes “TBTF” you become a quasi governmental entity. Your bonds are backed by Full Faith and Credit of the US Government (they are anyway, so why not just say so and let the company borrow at the lower rate?) Your Board of Directors gets boarded by government appointed persons from the areas of business related to yours.
Your stock is now eligible to be purchased by the Social Security Administration and the Government becomes a major shareholder in your company (like it or not).
If you don’t want this to happen to your company, make sure you don’t become that big. Easy Peasy!

Hey Nandy: Are you complaining about the newly deposed Fascist regime of Bush-Cheney or what? Maybe you should become a little more Historically & politically astute. Fascism & National socialism(Nazism) were not socialistic in spite of their name - they were ultra right wing - reactionarys. Fascism and socialism have always been at each others throats, so calling Liberals fascists is ignorant

ROFL @ Ligget.
There have been entire best-selling non-fiction hardcover books which detailed at great length PRECISELY how left-wing and Socialist the Nazis were.
Lie all you want. National Socialism was all about National SOCIALISM, and both the tactics and philosophy of the Nazis line up with today’s Left perfectly.
The manner in which you force “climate change” down the world’s throat using phony “science” (all based on computer models with cherry-picked “proofs” culled selectively from outside, all of which are only true if the computer models are true, which they aren’t), calling people “Deniers” when they try to defend their Freedoms against your relentless, tyrannical onslaught… it’s pure Goebbels and Mengele.
The same tactics both Goebbels and Mengele used are evident all throughout the Left’s culture war against ordinary Westerners. You even borrow from Orwell and employ “Newspeak”, corrupting the english language to both conceal your intentions and deceive your government-schooled brown shirts into repeating your mantras.
Get your facts straight, lefties. YOU are today’s Nazis. And you’re getting more militant all the time…

Just got my gas credit card notice that interest rate is going up to 26% on “normal” and 30% on “cash advances”. The card is controlled by Citi- which you can hardly see on the fine print. Reagan deregulation made this usury possible, period.
Yep, Hitler and the Nazi were really socialist/leftist. Right, and Scooter can prove Pinnochio turned into a real boy there’s a non-fiction hard cover book out there to support the movie!! The Nazi and Fascist regimes turned the government over to the banks and corporations! A little study of Farben, Krump, and Bayer might be more illustrative than Disney fantasy.
Goebbels and Rove are bedmates. Mengele would have fit right in at Abu Ghraib, or Guantanamo, but he wasn’t a propagandist- so not really in the same realm as Goebbels, though just as psychotic maybe? Cheney IS creepy enough to draw a comparison.

Mengele fits in more neatly along George Tiller and other “late-term” abortionists, all whom make their living and get their support from the Demoncrat Party. Yanking fully-formed babies out of their mother’s bodies with their hands, holding just their heads inside the birth canal so they can pierce their skulls and murder them… THAT is Josepeh Mengele in every way, shape, and form. Proud of your Demoncrat Party for supporting it all these years, dtroutma?
Wait, you’re too busy being mentally ill and blaming Reagan for a major Demoncrat-contributor like Citibank raising service fees. Reagan had WHICH party writing all the laws in Congress during his entire 8 years? Funny, all my History books show Demoncrat.
And that’s just me pretending your simplistic charge even has any factual bearing with what is happening today, in the year of our Lord 2009. Aren’t I a good role-player?
And the Nazi’s WERE Socaialist/Leftist. Go argue with the many nonfiction books which have been making that case for decades now…
The Nazis used the same rhetoric, the same browbeating, the same junk science, the same hysterical claims, the same takeover of both the courts and the public schools..,
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss! Heil Schumer!
ReasonsVentriloquist said, 24 days ago
Thing about the Nazis isn’t about the leadership, it’s about the followers.
The thing about the Nazis is how the public listened to this bullcrap and then invited that hatred into their own existence.
Yeah, the Dems can be that way, ask Nader. When the dems get an idea into their heads they’re goshdarned hard to reason with.
But the right! Oy vey! The stuff they’ll believe and the dimes they will turn on to take a 180 in an instant is amazing! The right isn’t interested in being right they are interested in winning the rhetorical argument.
The fight’s been going on for thousands of years ever since Plato’s Republic. Socrates would kick the behind of the Sophists and made the case for the goal of the truth itself.
Ironically, this philosophy is what passed from Plato to Aristotle, from Aristotle to Alexander The Great, which lead to the unified “One God, one truth” of Christianity. Which paid to educate Europe using Aristotle’s books as a sylabus template for education. Which somehow has lead us back to a world run by sophists like the right wingers who don’t give a good goddamn about “The Truth!”

scott, no one – NO ONE – in mainstream historical studies calls the Nazis socialists. They exterminated all the true socialists as soon as possible, and I use that term with precision.

WOW! Scooter has some really strange history books, the ones Cheney uses. Actually, I get paid for being a tad nuts,(VA) but not stupid. It is getting really disturbing all the Bush/Cheney fans that are nuts AND stupid! In strips, and on Faux.
Capitalism, with restraints IS good. A degree of socialism for the betterment of society is ALSO good. Fascism and Marxism were both dangerous, and Bush/Cheney-oops HItler, and Stalin proved same, respectively. We now owe China our national economy, so “Communism” is still out for the vote? They seem more flexible than “W”, though his dad did see the handwriting on the wall, and raised taxes to avoid disaster.
The ‘toon simply states the obvious, and there are a lot more megacorporations, like Lockheed/Martin in reserve ranks- they just haven’t surfaced, yet.

Charlie555 - Reagan would have said; “Don’t worry, they’re are on our side, just good capitalist doing what’sbest for America.”
4uk4ata said, 24 days ago
Nice and personal, eh, ANandy?
I think I read to your opinion about fascism and socialism, and replied to it in another thread; I have neither time nor inclination to write another essay here. Suffices to say that I disagree about your assessment.
Either way, huge financial concerns like the ones the comic refers to are imo dangerous to everyone else on the market. The 1999 act, for whatever reasons, allowed that - and with 10 years of experience, I think the case can be made for repealing or at least strongly amending it.

I would like to add that facism is a combination of both left and right wing economics, where it considered itself in opposition to both through, what they called, “The Third Way”.
The real issue with facism is that it was their assumption that all opposition (ideological, racial and economical) could not be tolerated and assimilated, but rather that it must be eliminated (though the use of force) from the public sphere. So if anything, the fact that Obama tried (and is clearly failing) to include the opposition in its discussions makes him the complete opposite of a facist, and its people like Cheney who exemplified the notions of political facism the most.
Remember it was not Hitlers economic or health care policies for what he was remembered most, just ask the millions of dissidents (both left and right wing), jews, homosexuals, gypsies and basically anyone in opposition to the party itself.
Facism, like communism and free market capitalism all require blind faith in the system, and there is the downfall of all. There is no room for thinking.

I love how self righteous bow hunters are! Have you ever spoken with one when they get all glassy eyed and steamy about the romantic act of hunting with a bow?
They’re so much more evoled than those mo-rons that use a rifle to “hunt”. And you can tell they’re more evolved because they are supposedly using weapons as nature intended, bow and arrow, just like their fore great grand fathers did! Just like the Indians did! Like the talented huns who could shoot accurately from the bare back of a galloping horse! Ahhh.. Ohhh…
As if the bow they’re using has any relation to the ones used in their fanboy fantasy Lord Of The Rings middle earthian times.
Get a new plan, Stan.

Instead of bailing out the banks which with Republican help caused this recession they out to have been socialized and the bad bankers imprisoned as a warning to other bankers to watch their step. Even now we can correct the bailout by foreclosing on them.

I think Stan is still in elementary school. That picture of your daddy (alleged) isn’t fooling anyone kid. Go back to myspace or something and quit with the peewee routine.
BTW Bow and arrows are gay.
