yep, that’s why they’re threatening to increase their premiums faster than even they expected …. gotta pay for all that organizing and advertising
could we pass a law taking away health insurance from all health insurance executives for at least one year?

It is the corrupt, lying, thieving Demoncrat Party which has structured all the laws under which the insurance companies operate, deliberately creating a phony “crisis” so the Demoncrats can seize control of 1/6 of our nation’s wealth and hold the literal power of life and death over every human being in America.
So sick of you Leftist pigs from “Animal farm” bleating FOUR LEGS GOOD TWO LEGS BAD every time someone tries to go against your pathetic brainwashing attempts.
Insurance companies don’t create the problems; GOVERNMENT does. Government WRITES all the laws under which they operate, and deliberately refuses to allow them to compete, creating artificial regional monopolies…

Attaboy, scottfreitas; you’re doing a fine job. It’s all the Democrat’s fault. Remember that.

I just noticed you know your sheep old snootyfreitas.
You should have finished the book. The kicker was when the the sheep went to the “two legs good, four legs bad” when the tea-bagger pigs started walking on their hind legs. That’s you brother!
By the way, Animal Farm, Brave New World and 1984 are worth a re-read. Dig them out of the box marked “to be read” from Lit 101 all those years ago. (Don’t be afraid!)

nz, you are wasting pearls on swine. scott is a true grumus. Insurance companies deny care every day! They ignore repeated requests for therapy directed by medical specialist for standard of treatment. They drop patients from their patient coverage because they are ill. Insurance CEOs make millions of dollar each year.

The ‘toon sums it up properly. It’s the government’s fault for wasting all of our money on this takeover.

and I’m sure you heard about the couple that was denied coverage for their baby because he was too fat. Except he’s only four months old and he’s nursing! The father is a news anchor, got attention, company reversed their denial.
Hey, that’s what we need … a cable show dedicated to bringing to light all the insurance company abuses and fraud. Highlight the H-E double L out of the those suckers!

^ Thanks to the Daily Show I get to hear about it.
Where’s Oldlegodad with his anecdotal tales about NHS woes from the London Times or UK’s Daily Mail? :-|
cdward said, about 1 month ago
BCS, I think you’re on to something. “Insurance Busters.” A show where patients bring their insurance complaints in each week, and the show’s investigators go after them claim by claim. It’d be a hit.

BTW, nz, while scott is a real boor, I find NeoconMan rather entertaining.

Guys (nz4m60 in particular), please hold back on personal insults.
@ Scottfreitas: the Democrats have not been in power in Congress for most of the last decade, and even a bit further. They had neither the Congress nor the president for most of the 2000s. They don’t have any alien mind-control powers, or they would have used them during Bush’s time. Oh, and they sure didn’t “invent” the healthcare crisis - Bush himself wanted (and passed some sort of) reform in 2005 iirc. It just didn’t work, unfortunately.
As for “inventing” a crisis, it’s been there for decades. The US pays the largest share of its GDP compared to any other modern nation in healthcare - some 16%, compared to 11% and less. It pays way more per person per year (in USD, adjusted for purchasing power) - something like 7000+, with the next competitors in the mid 4000s, and most advanced countries - that have UNIVERSAL coverage - in the 3000s. The UK is under 3000 USD per year. You think that’s a “phony” crisis? The Dutch, the French and the rest pay around half per person, have almost no uninsured, and THEY are worried they need to keep the costs down. Americans pay twice that - but you think it’s not a problem. Or if there is, it’s somehow the Democrats’ fault for… stifling private initiative? Overregulating? How exactly, by allowing companies* to run roughshod over clients and deny coverage on a near whim?
You know what is the most interesting thing, though? I’ve yet to see anything on the left that is so much “Two legs bad, four legs good” like what you wrote. Yours post could easily be summarized by: Democrats doublebad, companies good! Democrats doublebad, companies good!
*: some companies. Some are decent, honest, and compassionate. Then again, there are nice cops, approachable public servants and even supposedly hookers with a good heart . I’ve even personally met examples of the first two!

If ScottF would just watch one hour of PBS Newshour and one hoour of BBC America News per week, he might discover why his assumptions are so faulty. Of course reading ANY newspaper per week wouldn’t hurt!!
There’s no hope for ANandy.
pleasecutthecrap.com would change their world!!
Being better informed is a civic responsibility. If people were more responsible for getting their facts correct, all of the above bloviating and name-calling would never be allowed!!!

“Insurance companies don’t create the problems; GOVERNMENT does. Government WRITES all the laws under which they operate, and deliberately refuses to allow them to compete, creating artificial regional monopolies…”
Insurance companies operate for profit as their primary motive. Why shouldn’t they deny coverage for someone with cancer– he’ll be dead before the court battle is over, and they’ve already got a legal team so its cheaper than paying claims.
Just because its for-profit doesn’t mean its good for the consumer. Because, guess what? The insurance companies that deny the most claims are the cheapest since their costs are lower!

The fatal flaw is y’all Leftists keep believing that if Government ran health care, it would then be sinless and perfect and we’d all live happily ever after.
No, we wouldn’t.
The Demoncrats would structure health care to reward their political lobbyist groups and punish their political enemies. Wthin a decade, tops, “health care” would be paying for sex change operations, uber-expensive experimental AIDs vaccines, birth control, abortions, Viagra, “mental health” counseling, and on and on.
They would have complete and total unfettered access to the most sensitive information on every person–legal or illegal–living in the USA. They could and would structure health care to emphasize everything THEIR voters care about, while pushing aside everything that could be considered “GOP” or “right wing” or which would “unfairly” benefit “white males.”
Funny how Switzerland was and is able to regulate THEIR insurance companies to where every Swiss citizen has good, affordable health care NOT run by the government. But nooo, we can’t attempt to emulate something which verifiably WORKS. Not if it doesn’t involve the Demoncrats sezing control of 1/6th of America’s economy as their personal plaything..
McGreen said, about 1 month ago
Exactly.
My personal experience with private insurance during my chemo and surgeries was they are sloppy with processing claims and they flag/reject doctor authorization/referals pretty often for any ‘care’ which isn’t ordinary well person care.
the message is expect to pay alot for ordinary care you could get at a better rate out of your own pocket.
serious medical care is a problem.
McGreen said, about 1 month ago
Hey Scott - whizbang genius that you are I guess you didn’t know that most insurance already currently pays for Viagra.
And thanks to you neocons, most DON’T cover contraceptives.
morally bankrupt in my book.

Insurance companies have NO real purpose. They are simply middlemen who take money from their “customers”, siphon a large portion of that money to their investors and work as hard as possible to NOT pay for actual health coverage (since that would cut into their profits). Talk about a useless bureaucracy! Health Insurance Companies are the real Death Panels.

The Insurance companies have a counter-incentive to pay for claims, but then so does the government. Especially with the belt-tightening that is inevitable with our extreme debt. Our 2 options seem to be:
Which is worse?
