Find me any American who is willing to cut back on his/her lifestyle!

Find me any citizen of a developing country who is willing, after seeing what we have, to turn down the chance to live like this.

    We are screwed, people. Screwed.

Eddie, the thing is, sooner or later we won’t have the option. It will be done for us. So, in a way you may well be right. But I have the hope that some will survive and life will go on.

Funny for the last 10 years the Temp has gone down. It must be that pesky sun. I mean it has been in a very quit cycle. I wonder if all those wonderfully wrong computer models Owl Gore used in his horror movie accounted for all the inept and sloppy gathered input? Not to mention a real time line that takes into account the suns activity. Becuase my friend that is the stove in wich we lay. And I am sorry to say but H2O and how much solar radiation the sun is giving off has more to do with the weather then anything we can cap and trade!
Get over yourself. Mother Nature is bigger and has been around longer then the industrialized or the developing worlds.

I cut back a little; I don’ t use any artificial fertilizers for my flowers and vegetable garden (yes, I have one). Almost all the lightbulbs in the house are fluocompacts, I turn off the computer at night…

How’s that global-warming-is-a-myth claim working out for you, Harley? Maybe ask some of these people:

    Oh, wait, you can’t…they’re dead.

So not true, harley. Forget your obsession with Al Gore and look at the researchers, eh?
NO ONE ever said the sun wasn’t important, but our climate is in a delicate balance. Venus looks radically different from the Earth because the balance tipped a different way. If it shifts too far, it makes life far more difficult for all of us.
Even if the majority of global warming (which IS occurring, have no doubt) is due to “natural causes,” that doesn’t mean we can ignore it, either!

Oh wow Anthony, Global warming causes aids? You mean cow farts and the car I drive causes someone to get malaria? They are deaddddd mmmehhh global warming did it.
Really and us managing something that is 0.003% of our air in which human are responsible for .04% is going to do away with the boggy man Al Gore has set up for you? You can by Owl gores snake oil of carbon credits all you want but when you start Taxing us with cap and trade bs I have a big problem with that!
I am pointing out real science with the sun reacting to the H2O in the Earth and you are using the example of someone not using a rubber to further your scare tactics.

Hey guess what Venus and Earth have both heated up and cooled at the same time. Really it is something called the Sun! look it up!
I still say were are headed toward an ice age. I have the natural historical facts on my side. All you guys got are flawed computer modals.

Hey frog I do my part to. I am active with the wetlands. Now there is something I can back. It does have a place in real science and the water cycle. That my friend is something I back because I know it does my community good. But you guys go ahead and keep crying that the sky is falling. You are only scaring off people who do real work.

Interesting that since the oil companies have gained the lobbyist positions they and many other corporations hold over our political system and have used that advantage to elect their reps. into high office (Bush INC) we’ve been deluged with media swill about what poor unwitting targets the petroleum giants have become, how there’s no real link between hydrocarbons and the environment, how the companies have no choice but to gouge the consumer at every opportunity. Opinion polls show that well over 50% of the population supports tougher pollution laws and controls/regulations against market manipulation of oil prices (speculation) but until we reform the $ driven political system they own a huge chunk of the corporate shills in office will continue to do their bidding and play us all for fools. Polling says the same about health care reform, the public majority wants it but the health care industry wouldn’t allow us to cut their profits that way, not so long as the “public servants” they funded into office hold sway. Meanwhile they call anyone opposing the corporate bailouts “Socialists” when in fact they are socializing their losses with the U.S. treasury, hypocrites incorporated……….

Well, Harley, obviously you aren’t going to be swayed by facts, and it’s to the detriment of all of us.

Fortunately, the last few years have shown that people like you are becoming more and more marginalized.

  11. harleyquinn

    harleyquinnGenius_badge said, 5 months ago

I stated “facts” you pointed to could of and might be’s based on flawed science spelled out in a propaganda movie. Then went to a tear jerck of a story that vaguely linked the flaw with human suffering that has nothing to do with it? And with that we have a President stooge telling us we can save the world by painting our roof white.
So yes i think those of us that can think for our self our being marginalized by the phony religion called “climate change”

  12. dtroutma

    dtroutma said, 5 months ago

It is Harley’s temp that has gone down. It’s part of brain death. HIs “facts” are fit for removal with Charmin. Wow, all that vacuum of space and the water on Earth affects on the sun? Wait, nuclear reactors dumping heat waste into rivers and streams have no effect, we just buy giant Ray-Bans!!

Harley, I read your first couple of sentences more than once, and I can’t make heads nor tails of it.

    But no matter.

Like I said, you’re marginalized, and of little consequence on this issue.

“Venus looks radically different from the Earth because the balance tipped a different way. ”

Venus is also 67 million miles away from the Sun, we are 93 million miles.
Venus has higher and heavier atmosphere of carbon dioxide and sulfuric acid. The pressure of Venus is 90 times that of Earth. The only human interaction on Venus has been the 20 or so probes sent to it.

Some how I doubt we tipped the scale.

It has all do with the molecules that have always been on Venus and the Sun’s radiation.

You can believe climate change all you want, but don’t call the rest of us idiots or expect us to forgo freedoms to “save the planet”.

And just because I don’t believe in climate change doesn’t mean I’m all for throwing trash every which way or wasting gas just because I can.

  16. Anthony 2816

Anthony 2816Genius_badge said, 5 months ago

Jethan, it’s merely a case of choosing to believe the real science, or the “science” produced by the oil companies, which is completely analogous to the smoking-is-good-for-you “science” produced by the tobacco companies, or the god-poofed-everything-into-existence-6000-years-ago “science” made up by the christian fundamentalists.

I go with the former; you go with the latter.

ectome, the hoax of fear for possible terrorist attacks by the Bush administration kept the citizens of this country under control til the “06 and “08 elections when the majority finally realized they had been had. Cheny is still making the rounds to perpetuate this.

yes, “what better way to control the masses then (sic) to create a hoax full of fear and devastation” just about describes our rationale for attacking Iraq.

Bush and the Neocons did learn some history:

“Naturally, the common people don’t want war, but after all, it is the leaders of a country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag people along whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliment, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. This is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and DENOUNCE THE PACIFISTS FOR LACK OF PATRIOTISM and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in every country.” – Hermann Goering, Hitler’s Reich-Marshall at the Nuremberg Trials after WWII.

“Beware the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the citizenry into a patriotic fervor, for patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword. It both emboldens the blood, just as it narrows the mind. And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the blood boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no need in seizing the rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry, infused with fear and blinded by patriotism, will offer up all of their rights unto the leader and gladly so. How do I know? For this is what I have done. And I am Caesar.” – Julius Caesar

Pity he didn’t read his dad’s history book, though:

“To occupy Iraq would instantly shatter our coalition , turning the whole Arab world against us and make a broken tyrant into a latter day hero—- assigning young soldiers to a fruitless hunt for a securely entrenched dictator and condemning them to fight in what would be an un-winnable urban guerrilla war. It could only plunge that part of the world into even greater instability. ”
    “A World Transformed” George H W Bush 1998
