Citizens should not fear police, and police shouldn’t fear the citizens either. An armed, and anger, and fear driven society makes both parties unsafe.

“Blacks kill blacks every day; why is this being so played up?”

“Blacks don’t value their own lives; why should we?”

People kill People, I mean, there are over 7 billion of them. Should we really care if maybe a few dozen thousand get bumped off violently every now and then?

We should wait until all the facts are known <> We’re a mob. We don’t need no stinkin’ facts

    This toon is so true. It’s a glitch of human communication that’s true for black/whites, men/women, christians/atheists;
What you mean as innoffensive can sound very, very offensive to the person hearing you.

communicating is one of the hardest things people do. it takes real effort and an open mind.
Platitudes are just words, not real communication.
But we must do it, not just try, but work at it however long it takes.
When Jesus said “love your brother like you love yourself” I think He meant we are all brothers, fellow passengers on the world, with way far more similarities than diffferences.
It’s the people who have their minds made up and they won’t even Listen to Reason who make most of the problems.

Well, here’s the thing. I don’t think anyone wants this kind of thing to continue, and there’s at least two solutions for it that don’t involve any major changes in anything. Many cities require cops to wear a camera and microphone when on duty. Others, like Memphis, have mounted skycop cameras all over the city. Oddly enough, cops on camera behave themselves or get kicked off the force. A friend was just describing his experience working for a police force with cameras, a woman called about an investigator who was making out with her sister, who’d been booked for prostitution the day before, and they just pulled camera records and asked him where he was and what he was doing when they told him to return to the station. He got kicked off the force with a record that pretty much keeps him from ever being in law enforcement again.

This problem in Ferguson didn’t happen overnight. It won’t get cured overnight. There’s records of bad cops in Ferguson going back (court records, not unknowns named “Josie” calling a radio show who claim to know what some third party named Wilson’s real story is) a long time. But cameras that can’t be removed (and cop cameras can’t be removed without taking off the uniform) are a major push in that direction.

And I’m done with this subject which is 90% rumor by “unnamed sources” and “Josie” inflated by bloggers with a hundred axes to grind until it SOUNDS like there’s something there.

    “What you mean as innoffensive…”
Yes it can be offensive to someone else, but sometimes the offended one fails to consider the other person’s heart. Why? Well obviously because there’s either fame, fortune, or both to accrue from complaining about hurt feelings (aka whining).

    Transmit/receive—-
Great illustration of how interpretation can skew communication, Mr. Bell.

Sadly, inconvenient video evidence has a habit of being lost, discarded, wiped, “forgot to load the film”, “camera wasn’t working”…

Or even a mixture of these.
