New England is divided into 6 states, (12 senators).
    Why not the Californias?

The San Andreas Fault Line could be one border.
Keep it simple for after The Big One.

Well, there’s precedent for it. Look what happened with Virginia in 1861.

Texas could split itself into 5 states. Some have proposed it too. From two to five states.

That was the only new state created by the Civil War—-West Virginia.

Most of the “Handsoff my water” should be painted red, the northern segment should be green, and leafy.

“New England is divided into 6 states, (12 senators). Why not the Californias?”

They were separate colonies before joining the US. Besides, the Founding Fathers already dealt with it the bicameral Congress compromise.

Shouldn’t “West Arizona” be named North Mexico? And San Francisco be Cuidad de Sanctuary?

Lower California was at one point almost named Colorado.

Hmm, that statement tells me how little you may know of the local geography: your state of California, prior to being annexed by your country, was called ‘Alta California’, or Upper California, while ‘Baja California’, or ‘Lower California’, remained Mexican.
By your reasoning, and I’m sure there are many who would welcome it and many more who would vehemently disagree, most of Baja USA would be Alto Mexico.
