    It is 10pm central and you made the first post about an hour ago.
    That being said, it is scary that some people need to learn what a democracy is in this country. Others need capitalism as well because we all have been brained wash at sometime to think that free markets are bad. Yes it should not be the first thing we think of in the mourning but we should think of it from time to time.

    Capitalism has given people more freedom while freeing others from want then marxism.

    Unfortunately, half the voters in this country are functionally illiterate, and believe what they are told. Also, unfortunately, the right-wing hate media, financed by the oligarchs, are very good at spreading their poison. You see the results in the vicious polarization, as people happily vote against their own best interests or turn against entire segments of the population. When Republicans are caught in lies, they simply double-down. Like the previous administration said, never, ever admit when you are wrong.

    Money has always, and always will find its way to decision makers. SCOTUS simply makes it legal now.

    I believe the more appropriate word is plutocracy, government by the wealthy; not oligarchy, government by a small group. True, it’s oligarchy, but plutocracy is much more definitive.

    Good observation. But paint brush or computer, it’s the artist’s eye that really makes the difference. Bell is just good.

    Thanks for that, Baslim. But it’s all garbled. It may be based on Cicero, but it’s not real Latin.

    The right wing court said limits on billionaire money to a campaign are unconstitutional (since they said that money = free speech) and that billionaires have a right to the political process as well. At this rate we’ll have representatives and senators from Walmart and McDonalds representing each other. But hey, more (low wage paying) jobs right?

    Billionaires DO have the right to free speech, and they DO get ONE VOTE, same as the custodian and the burger & fries server.

    We all saw (despite their attempts to limit media coverage) the Las Vegas spectacle of groveling politicians chasing after scooter-chair billionaire Sheldon. They were piling on the praise and kissing his shoes in hopes of receiving money trinkets.
    It happened to be a feeding frenzy of Republican remoras that time, but all politicians are now up for sale. So what are we going to do about it? Campaign finance legislation has been stalled for years, now. ’think the pols in charge in Congress want changes? ha.

    I was rather disappointed that the small print turned out to be the same Lorem Ipsum boilerplate in all three sections. This might lead one to the conclusion that all three forms of government are the same thing, just under different names (exactly opposite to the actual point the comic is trying to make).

    There’s an old joke about cold-war era governments in eastern Europe being an amalgamation of forms, taking in turn:
    - from prehistoric society: production methods;
    - from classical antiquity: slavery;
    - from feudalism: social order;
    - from capitalism: economic exploitation;
    - and from socialism: the name.
