It is 10pm central and you made the first post about an hour ago.
That being said, it is scary that some people need to learn what a democracy is in this country. Others need capitalism as well because we all have been brained wash at sometime to think that free markets are bad. Yes it should not be the first thing we think of in the mourning but we should think of it from time to time.

Capitalism has given people more freedom while freeing others from want then marxism.

It seems that those who want us to be a theocracy and oligarchy and plutocracy are just fine in leaving that out of the corporate study guides to the very rigid tests. Easier to manipulate that way.

You’ve got the oligarchy date wrong – should be 1914

This cartoon is very interesting on a technical level. There is no way Darrin (a Mac superuser) has penciled that filler text (aka “blind text”) in there himself. So this was done on a computer, but it sure as heck doesn’t look like that, it has a human touch, somehow. Very well done, Kudos! Oh, and on the content: spot on my man!

Unfortunately, half the voters in this country are functionally illiterate, and believe what they are told. Also, unfortunately, the right-wing hate media, financed by the oligarchs, are very good at spreading their poison. You see the results in the vicious polarization, as people happily vote against their own best interests or turn against entire segments of the population. When Republicans are caught in lies, they simply double-down. Like the previous administration said, never, ever admit when you are wrong.

Money has always, and always will find its way to decision makers. SCOTUS simply makes it legal now.

I believe the more appropriate word is plutocracy, government by the wealthy; not oligarchy, government by a small group. True, it’s oligarchy, but plutocracy is much more definitive.

Good observation. But paint brush or computer, it’s the artist’s eye that really makes the difference. Bell is just good.

I looked more closely at the text. Here is a discussion of it.

Interesting that the title of the source text reads, On good and Evil Ends.

@Baslim the beggar says, "The past is the enemy of the future."

Thanks for that, Baslim. But it’s all garbled. It may be based on Cicero, but it’s not real Latin.

The right wing court said limits on billionaire money to a campaign are unconstitutional (since they said that money = free speech) and that billionaires have a right to the political process as well. At this rate we’ll have representatives and senators from Walmart and McDonalds representing each other. But hey, more (low wage paying) jobs right?
