It gets quieter when there are fewer of them.

Because the House has been “in session” by having a single person come in and gavel in an empty room for two weeks. Dumb court.

A weekend-recess-appointment? You, sir, will become my political advisor once I assume my tyrannical position! That’s really devious, like Dr. Evil devious. Kudos!

That is the beauty of the decision. It is NOT up to the President. The Constitution tells us when it is in THE recess. Checks and balances.

Solution, we do NOT need over 400 of these do-nothing members of Congress.
Reduce the number to 100 with a max staff of 10 each…..and all the volunteers they can muster…I, for one, as I recall, have never had a need for any of them. I doubt if I am the only one.

Maybe we need to toss this system that we have and use a Parliament (England). Then if they do not do their assigned tasks, all of them can be fired.
Just like private enterprise…
Scary ?

If there isn’t a quorum for a vote, they are NOT “in session”, period.

You are absolutely perfect. Never once in all your posts over the years have you ever made a true statement. You may believe the garbage you write but that is not the law nor the Constitution. Why don’t you start your own country and then you can make up laws for yourself? The recess is defined specifically. Why don’t you read the Constitution?

Just another dirty trick by the right wing court and the right wing house to stop any appointments so that the work of the government can not get done. The ATF leadership has been missing for six years due to NRA influence. The right has settled on ruinous methods so they can scream about how nothing ever gets done.

Lib: the Senate rights, and re-writes it’s own rules. As does the House at the beginning of each new Congress. Quorum is standard practice in almost all organizations of public trust. The Senate needs to RESTORE the original “filibuster” rules, and of course that thing they’ve long had in Congress, the “quorum call”.

P.S. the Constitution calls for a minimum of 51 Senators for a quorum. Check the Senates own glossary.

So? What has that got to do with THE recess? THE recess specifically refers to the period when one Congress disbands and a brand new Congress is sworn in. Around 1-2 days January 3-4. See the courts decision.

Re the filibuster. Standard conservative answer to your biased request: check that out with Judge Miguel Estrada.
Who? There is no Judge Estrada. Why? He was a President Bush nominee to the appellate court who was so well qualified that he was being groomed to be the first Hispanic Supreme Court Justice. He is very conservative. That panicked the left so they
--filibustered—- his nomination and he was never able to get a straight up and down vote.Your bottom line: if we do it that is fine but horrors if you do it.
