I’m sure he’ll have his supporters, just like the owner of Chick-fil-A does.

Gobsmacking ignorance to think that national healthcare is somehow wrong. I really look forward to the USA entering the 20th century and joining the rest of the world on looking after its citizens.
Why such resistance to Mitt Romney’s proven system?

Probably since he turned on a platter and went against it himself.

The label is inflammatory, but let’s talk substance instead of packaging.
What did he say that was not true?
    What exactly is fascism, then?
Compare and contrast a healthcare system under Fascism with Obamacare.

I very much enjoyed your post but must take issue with you on your aside about communism. Communism as an example of direct democracy only exists in the idealism of theory. I know of no examples of successful, sustainable communistic communities. Communism just doesn’t seem to be compatible with the human psyche. It deteriorates into sloth by some and dominance by others thereby destroying the ideal.

For an example of communism look at the something like… the Catholic church.

No matter how you put it, facisim goes against every idea that founded this country. Valuing the group over the individual. If everyone pulls his or her own weight, the country is better as a whole. Facisim allows the slackers to survive on the backs of those who produce. When the USA becomes a facisist state, we are no longer “from many, one”, we are just “one”.

    “You’re an idiot.”

Informal. an utterly foolish or senseless person.
Psychology . (no longer in technical use; considered offensive) a person of the lowest order in a former and discarded classification of mental retardation, having a mental age of less than three years old and an intelligence quotient under 25.

I see nothing in masterskrain’s post that would illicit the response of “Your and idiot”. It is simply an historically verifiable treatise on Fascism.

You really need to look up the definition of communism. The Catholic church is a far cry from the ideal of communism.

Thanks for the links! My favorite part out of the whole thing is what FDR said to Congress.

Government managed healthcare from a country with no budget and 16 trillion in debt. Yeah, great idea…

To begin with, he apologized for his remark and realized he had made a poor choice of words. But have no fear, it is now labeled as “he misspoke.” (it works for the politicians). He advocates “conscious capitalism” and has written a book on the subject. I’m afraid the indignant are wasting their breath about a boycott, it isn’t happening. Whole Foods has an intensely loyal clientele and they don’t identify the market (a public company) specifically with John Mackey. BTW, Whole Foods has a very good employer provided health plan for their people and above average wages for their industry.

I just can’t resist. This is almost fun it’s gotten to be so far fetched. One of my favorite quotes, attributed to either Alec de Toquerville or Alexander Tytler, the battle for authorship continues, goes like this:

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the majority discovers it can vote itself largess out of the public treasury. After that, the majority always votes for the candidate promising the most benefits with the result the democracy collapses because of the loose fiscal policy ensuing, always to be followed by a dictatorship, then a monarchy.”

Don’t you just love the internet? You can sooner or later dig up almost anything to make your point.
