Hamas throws tons of missles at Israel. Hamas targets ANYTHING that moves! Israel targets Hamas’ known leader’s hideouts that have surrounded themselves with women and children. Mainstream Media decries Israel for defending itself and killing children in the process…….just WHEN did the world get so BLASTED upside down and BACKWARDS???

Fatah was more “cooperative”, and got, well, nothing. This goes back millennia, just like most homicidal societies, on BOTH sides. Throw in the evangelicals that only see the “conversion” to Jesus, or horrible deaths of all Jews, and well, that little “holocaust thing” wasn’t such a big deal?
If the “religious” actually stopped killing each other over their religious differences, 90% of all wars would stop. If people would stop stealing other people’s land, based on “religious claims” to ownership, another 8% would stop.
Of course if wars weren’t so profitable?
I prefer a “culture” that accepts others, even if they don’t agree with them, and sees wars, hatred, and greed, as all evil, but sadly, very “human”. It is in overcoming the “human” weaknesses, and seeking betterment for oneself, a better path. While some mistake what they think of as “karma”, making jest of it, because it doesn’t match their “faith”, they are the least likely to improve themselves, just because it’s the right thing to do.

Well written and accurate but it will go right over the heads of the anti-semites writing here. There should be no country of Israel on this earth and until that happens all is fair. Of course there was no such word as Palestinians until recent history but don’t let the facts interfere with their bigotry.

Very very recent history. 20th Century rather than BCE. I know it is difficult to believe but the world didn’t start the day you were born. It is a made up name designed to take pressure off of Muslim leaders who keep their people in poverty and ignorance and need to find something else to unite the masses besides hatred of their own leaders.
And yes, those who are terrorizing to totally eliminate the entire country of Israel are “anti-semites” and that remains the written goal of leaders, countries and millions of muslims.

first of all anti-semitism is an interesting word in this context. arabs and jews are both semetic people. that’s why this conflict is so horrific – it’s a family feud. Throughout millenium the jews have been persecuted, enslaved, and exterminated. I don’t know why, it just seems like a popular thing to do. It’s one of the lessons of passover – that and what constitutes freedom. for those of you who would emasculate israel, you, in reality, are finishing the job hitler started. If israel laid down her arms there would be no israel the next day. The holocaust survivors that founded her know that and it in their dna. If the palestinians laid down their arms, there would be peace.

And does that in any way diminish the legitimacy of Palestinian nationalism? Does it negate the fact that they are the ones who are now largely displaced and without a sovereign country of their own?
You bring up anti-Semitism, and you may be partially correct, some of Israel’s critics do so from a prejudiced standpoint, but I would also like to bring up anti-Arabism or Islamophobia of those who criticise or denigrate the aspirations of Palestinians.
But hey, “don’t let the facts interfere with their bigotry.”

When the mandate was set almost 100 years ago the area was split in half. Israel said OK and the palestinians said no. They started and lost a war in 1948 to gain all the territory. Similarly they started a war in in 1967 and lost. Even after 2 major victories Israel is offering to give "palestinians " 90% of what they have asked for. That too has been rejected. They don’t want just peace or land, they want everything. T’aint going to happen.

Correct, foreign powers were deciding their fate, yet again. It’s understandable that they would object to their lands being partitioned off. Wait, I forgot, they were not their own masters, why consult them or take into account their protests.

I note how you place in quotes Palestinians, as if this is a title that should be questioned or does not deserve recognition. You belittle & denigrate the designation. You diminish their identity. Rob them of that small dignity. Does this narrative sound familiar? Who wants to push whom into the sea? Who wants whom wiped off the map?
Shall I start quoting what many Israeli politicians and leaders were saying just this last week? It is up there with the anti-Semitic quotes we often hear.

The Six Day War proper was initiated by the Israelis. Of course you might reply they were pre-empting or replying to provocations; as if there hadn’t been skirmishes & provocations by all parties in the preceding months, even years.
