    Lets apply the KISS principle:
Nato and The United States leave on January 1 2013.
Then Kazid can deal with his people how ever he wants, and they can deal with him.

I prefer to apply the GTFO principle.

Okay, given the fact that it was Saudi nationals who attacked us on 9/11, not Afghans, and given their topography, and technology, and non-existent economy, exactly HOW could Afghanistan attack us, if we just walked away, tomorrow? Oh, we might still not get that pipeline, but when Karzai splits, the jurga might take over again, and ta-da!

You forget, one of the reasons we went in there is to get rid of that nasty Taliban which did such terrible things to women.
Oh, wait, they’re back. Karzai decided to go with them instead: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2111477/Afghanistan-Hamid-Karzais-backing-strict-Islamic-code-giant-step-womens-rights.html

    I agree,,
I am for any Principle that gets us out of that mess fastest.
As for the Pipeline and resources,, talk about a pipedream, Warlords, Bandits, nonexistant roads, villages who will view the construction companies as invaders.
    Talk about a mess.

Do we have to get out of Afghanistan before we get into Iran? I mean, we got into Iraq while Afghanistan was, and still is of course, going on, and obviously, we can fund two wars at one time, because deficits don’t count when we’re waging war.

Just follow the money; the military industrial complex would find it very counter-productive to their interest if the U.S. was not constantly finding cause for “assisting” other nations in their hour of need…and of course when there isn’t cause…you create it.

Iran?
