Even if it ever gets shrunk we will still have the biggest and most expensive military in the world.

… because we all know that drones and missiles and fighter planes and bombers are not as effective as hand-to-hand combat. But I guess you’d have to actually find out what he said in order to understand the proposal, and that’s against the rules. Fox and Rush will hand out the talking points, you just draw the funny pitchers to go with them.

it would help if we had a state department that didn’t make it a policy to step on everyone’s toes.

The budget is the same as the height of the “Cold War”, the “black budget” is unknown, we are building tanks and planes the military has no use for – they go straight into storage. The GOP neo-cons have never been shot at, but are great and sending others to. We have no business in religous wars, or bases around the world for oil. This is the “Military, Industrial, Congressinal” complex Ike warned us about. Fix the Interstate Hwy system, the electrical grid is very vulnerable and in dire need of updating.

I think the Chinese Commies have more boots on the ground than we do but we probably spend more than they do.

    >The Pentagon announced Cuts, not Obama.

The Pentagon bosses are politicians in uniform. They have no opinions of their own. You see a similar thing with anti-gun police chiefs, despite the fact that the rank-and-file police almost universally favor an armed populace.

Just a note again: it was Rumsfeld and Cheney (as Sec. of Defense) who called for cutting Army troops, and substitution of profits for contractors, technology and mercinaries.
