I was pretty impressed that Rafael Cruz and Sarah Palin were above using WWII Vets as political pawns.
I am really curious as to what those two think happens when the government is shut down. I do know that they both think it’s a good thing.
Harder to understand whether Fox “news” viewers think it’s good or bad.

Thw Memorial is an open air area…It’s stupid to try to close it w/ barricades. .What a slap in the faces of those of the “greatest generation!”

First of all, they got in after a day of confusion at the start, without anyone having to insult law officers for the law they had to enforce, despite the law being brought into play by the GOP shutdown and not the President, despite the fact that three-quarters of the screwballs supporting this idiotic political theater don’t realize that it is the (GOP dominated House) that spends money and not the president, despite the fact that Obama is the lowest-spending president since Eisenhower.
Othern’ that, you got it all right, Dana.

Don’t vets need health insurance too?

    Keep plucking that chicken.

There was no justification to close down the normally unguarded memorials – it costs more to shut them down than to keep them open – other than to tick people off.

And veterans are the last people you want to tick off.

Let me understand this. The likes of Sen. Ted Cruz & Speaker of the House John Boehner shutdown the Govt. & yet Pres. Obama gets the blame ? He warned of these closures & people are surprised when given no other choice ? Congress needs to Reopen the Govt. & lift the debt ceiling so people can get back to work & closures are ended.

The Parks Department doesn’t need to shut down these memorials; they are open-air memorials. It actually costs more to close them than to leave them be. It is purely a political stunt by the Obama administration to try to put pressure on Republicans.

You like to blame the Republicans for the shutdown, but who said how many times that (insert bill name here) is DOA in the Senate? How many times have Republicans tried to meet the ultimatums of Senate Democrats and Obama himself?

Delay implementation of an unpopular law for a year while it gets figured out? No, couldn’t possibly do that. And this is also within the House’s Constitutional authority to restrict funding for projects they don’t like. It’s not the first time it’s been done, and I don’t know why it’s so alarming that they are doing it again. This is why the Founding Fathers gave control of the purse strings to the House.

Those of you who are all demonizing the Republicans for doing their jobs, if the roles were reversed you’d be chanting forward the call of resistance, insisting that the Democrats would be in the right for shutting down the government and how wrong Republicans were for refusing to negotiate.

Don’t believe me? Want to challenge me? I have one for you: Wisconsin and Title 10. The Democrats fled the state to prevent cloture, and all the left-leaning kool-aid drinkers were all in support of them fleeing the state and preventing a vote. While it was crass and inappropriate, and bordering on a temper tantrum, it was within their legal right to do so. And who received the villianization? The Republicans.

The lefties on this board need to recognize their own partisan slant on life, and remove their rose-colored glasses for a moment. Realize that you are simply supporting the Democrats because they are Democrats, not because of what they were doing. Because if you weren’t blindly following the Democrats to wherever you think they are taking us, you would be barking at them just as much to make a deal and cooperate.

But because the Democratic leadership has so much of a blind following, they can act with impunity and if they have criticizers by the Republicans, those Republicans are branded as extremists, terrorists, hating America, and all other things without one iota of pushback from self-thinking individuals.

Watching Sarah Plain and Small talk about using the veterans as pawns reminded me of her standing in front of the farmer shoving his turkeys into a “shredder” during her campaign. She was shoving the vets in, and not even blinking.

how long are right wingers going to ignore reality and harp on this WWII vets dreck? It’s a shame to see the once moderate Summers has been polarized into another conservative shill. I find it ironic that they use WWII vets as poster boys for the fight to destroy entitlements and health care when it was WWII vets that drove the country’s burgeoning middle class when the government gave them educational and housing assistance upon their return home. Uh oh. Time to turn off reality again.
