Somehow, I don’t see how cartoons portraying IRS agents as actively evil helps the matter. They don’t design the tax code, they’re no more evil than traffic cops, and if no one did their job, America would fail as people like Romney, Leona Helmsley, and Grover Nordquist stop paying taxes at all.

You forget about people like Daschle, Geithner, Rangel and other Democrat tax cheats?

^ Does that mean that the IRS audits everybody?
During the presidential campaign, Republicans/Fox “news” watchers on these boards assured everyone that Romney’s tax returns had to be totally legal, otherwise, he would have been audited by the IRS.

A friend went to work for IRS. The put him on "corporate accounts. In his first four cases, he collected over $23 million in unpaid taxes. They moved him over to chasing down drug dealers. He caught them too, but had to leave and “disappear” for a while, but considered the “corporate dudes” the bigger crooks.

And people like you insisted that Romney was somehow, some way evading taxes, in spite of any evidence except lefty-website hearsay.

For many liberals, Conservative politicians are guilty until proven more guilty. No amount of facts, evidence, or logic can dissuade them from their beliefs.

To be fair, the same could be said of how many conservatives see liberal politicians who have been accused of some misconduct.

You’re forgetting how presidents like Clinton used IRS audits to harass their political opponents. Given this kind of despicable behavior, it’s no wonder Americans think the IRS is evil.
