The media is a very willing lapdog to take the average American’s mind off the falling stock market, the upcoming massive tax increases, the Benghazi-gate etc etc…

But most people have been conditioned to have short attention spans. Get the info into a sound bite, or you’ll lose your audience. If people have to pay attention for more than 20 seconds or so, they’ll switch to something else. Do you channel-surf during commercials?
The media don’t have to do a lot for folks to move on to the next thing the Kardashians have done. Remember, thinking and reasoning requires effort. Always has, always will, and most people aren’t willing to expend the energy.
