The dark secret about Mitt’s tax returns is possibly that he was part of the tax amnesty deal. In other words, it’s hard to convince people to vote for you when you’ve agreed to a plea bargain.

Mitt paid more than he would have owed if he had claimed all his charity donations. His tax rate is on investment income, and it applies to every tax payer who has investment income.
Romney did not need any fictional “tax amnesty deal”…radish posted an outrageous accusation without one shred of evidence or documentation.

I think Obama would be offering a beer and Romney would be offering bonbons and Grey Poupon mustard.

Romney could clear up any questions by showing his tax returns.

Speaking of outrageous accusations without evidence, how do you know how much in charitable donations Romney claims on his taxes? He refuses to release the returns.

I am just learning that at least 2 posters here are idiots.
    (radish and Jase99)
It was all over the news and I printed out 3 articles, one was on CNN Money website. Romney released full returns from 2010 and 2011 and summaries of 20 years of returns.
    -
In 2011 Romney paid $1.94 million IRS tax on investment income of $13.7 million with adjustments for $4.7 million itemized deductions and $102,790 foreign tax credits (that he paid overseas to other governments) and Ann and Mitt gave $4 million to charity but only claimed $2.25 million which made the IRS tax more than if they claimed the entire $4 million.
    -
Romney’s effective rate was 14.1%, higher than the 80% of income tax payers who pay below that effective rate.
    -
but I expect this info will not keep you both from continuing to post lies against Romney.

He did NOT release any full return. None of the key supporting statements have been released, including how much money was in the Swiss bank account.
    -
The day after the election, win or lose, Willard can file an ammended return, and claim the entire $4 million.
    -
And no one will ever know.
    -
But, he has nothing to hide, and that’s why he’s hiding them.
    -
Maybe you people have all the information you need to know, but I don’t.

There is a movie fitting to this cartoon called “Swing Vote” where one guy – due to a clerical error – has to decide the election. Pretty funny!

Just a couple of things to set the record straight.

Vote on social security is recorded here.

    http://www.ssa.gov/history/tally.html

It was passed. The support was bi-partisan. So evidently republicans were not against it.

I can’t find a record that I can access on the GI bill BUT I found this

Harry W. Colmery, a World War I veteran and the former Republican National Committee chairman, wrote the first draft of the G.I. Bil

Civil rights? Maybe you should read this:

Just three that’s all I’m doing. Everyone should take the time to look at the truth on all of them.

“Just three that’s all I’m doing. Everyone should take the time to look at the truth on all of them.”
    .
Do as I say not as I do huh?
    .
    Bruce,
    .
We all understand that there has been a rotation of what the nominations of the parties has been. The Democrats used to be dominated by the Dixiecrats who were far to the right of the northern Democrats.
    .
We’ve been through the fact that Northern Republicans were at one time considered the bleeding hearts of the nation in that they were abolitionists.
    .
The distance from the Civil War to WWI was relatively short, less than a lifetime to be sure. And Woodrow Wilson was in any ways a Blue Dog Democrat. When he went into the 1919 Treaty negotiations the “loyal oposition” was back at home trying to wrest power for themselves.
    .
The Republican party was absoulely against Roosevelt involving us in the second world war. Not far from here is the Ham Fish Bridge. Hamilton Fish was the Republican congressman whoes district borders (if not includes) Hyde Park, NY which was, of course, the home of FDR. He was particularly vitriolic in his condemnation of FDR’s plans to get us into WWII.
    .
That there were some Republicans for a given bill does give it a “Bi Partisan” bona fide but it doesn’t mean equality. Look at the numbers of Dem Senators v. Rep in 1944 57D v.38 R and the year before was 66-28!
    .
In the House 222 v. 209 from 267 to 162 the session before.
    .
The Right didn’t have much to say in the voting!
    .
    “Maybe you should read this:”
    .
Maybe you should learn how to make a link if you want somebody to follow it.

    -
so inform us of any candidate for president that released “full returns with supporting statements revealing exact amount in foreign bank accounts”….(answer….NONE….)
    -
financial disclosures of elected congressmen and top administration officials use estimated amounts without IDs of how much held where…..with a large and unknown total worth…($1 million to $10 million) leaving voters to guess.
    -
In other words, braindead ( like the MSM and democratic opponents) use a different standard for GOP than for Dems.
