My heart felt gratitude to all of our military personnel who will not be with their families this Thanksgiving.

Heartfelt gratitude… yikes. Death, destruction and mayhem… as ever. At least, for America, we love our killers with a big Christian heart. And our killing is justified. Because they hit us first, right? As long as the media continues to call EVERY soldier a hero, then there will be a never-ending line of clueless illiterate idiots who join the armed services. The ones who can read become the leaders.

Should have thought about that before going to war in the first place!

    rikoshayrabbit …can it!
At what point of history did you enter, apparently completely devoid of the ugliness of conflict?
Since you might be right about me, (having served in the armed forces), I think your blurb …”As long as the media continues to call EVERY soldier a hero, then there will be a never-ending line of clueless illiterate idiots who join the armed services….” speaks for itself. If I were a gambling man, (and I am) I dare say you would not have been acceptable into the Military based on a rather questionable psychological profile. (Then again, that guy at Fort Hood…hmmmm.)
Yes, the media does go overboard with the ‘hero’ word. But you notice rikoshay, that you will NEVER find anyone IN the service calling themselves ‘heroes’. What do you call yourself riko…..I mean, HOW do you characterize yourself?

Freedom isn’t free. It’s not a cliche, or a sound bite, or a bumper sticker slogan… it’s cold, harsh reality.

The anti-intellectual rikoshays of the world never bother asking the right questions. Such as:

WHY is it the ONLY oath American soldiers and politicians take is to “–defend and uphold THE CONSTITUTION, from ALL enemies foreign AND DOMESTIC?”

That’s it. That is the only requirement asked of both American politicians AND soldiers.

Notice the first party we’re asked to defend the Constitution from is “foreign enemies?” Thinking people haven’t forgotten that 3000 Americans were turned into air pollution not long ago by FOREIGN ENEMIES. Subsequent data showed those enemies were based out of AFGHANISTAN.

That’s why we have US troops missing hot, home-cooked turkey again this year.

And that part in the oath about enemies DOMESTIC really needs to be enforced. People like rikoshay, who demonize their own country falsely, acting as though the rest of the world’s governments are all hugs-and-kisses to their people, and who claim WE are murderers for trying to defend ourselves against hostile enemy aggression, definitely qualify as domestic enemies of the Constitution, as I understand the term… particularily since he implies that America’s native religion of Christianity is to blame, rather than the Islamic madness that motivates men to fly planes into skyscrapers and blow themselves up on crowded sidewalks…

If that is an aproximation of you in that cutsie little pic, it would make sense for your borish bile. The military would not have you, and you would resent it. Sorta like sour grapes huh fella?
(psssssst, easy on the turkey fella, might be blogging from an oxygen tent, post Thanksgiving 2009) ~wink~

There would be no wars without soldiers. Considering we have a volunteer military they get what they deserve. We are not in Iraq and Afghanistan to ‘win’, we are just place holders in the hornet’s nest that GWB stirred up, shades of Viet Nam, when will they ever learn…

Hey Bruce4671, if we each have a gun to protect our households, we can hold off attackers. It’s always easier to defend than attack…

  13. Bruce4671

Bruce4671 said, about 8 hours ago

When will we learn, maybe never. But consider this, who will be the first to get rid of their armies, who will be the first to lay down their arms. When the US disbands it’s military force and the (put what ever country you want here) come to our shore, land their troops, put a gun to your head, take your house your wife and children and transport you to the slave pit all because a liberal progessive government banned firearms for citizens and got rid of the military you may not be so quick to say there would be no wars without soldiers. You are right but everyone world wide would have to be on the same page and guess what that aint gonna happen….

    dtroutma,
True, milk in Vietnam was not all that great. (I preferred beer anyway. Even preferred Ba Mui Ba to the 3.2 we got there as well)
Concerning your feelings on NeoCon man, I agree. At times we must bite our lip and take satisfaction that such rubbish spoken is the product of a free society. (It ain’t always fun, but it is worth defending my friend)

There’s a video about the Iran-Contra scandal that includes an interview with a right-wing zealot named Hull, who owned a big ranch in Costa Rica that he allowed the gun-runner/cocaine trade between Los Angeles and Columbia to use.

He justified his actions by expressing the fear that if we didn’t do what we were doing, legions from South America would be invading America.

I find this sort of perspective ironic. We seem to create what we fear most. The invasion came, but not as a military force “taking our wives…” Today, immigrants from Central and South American countries are moving toward a majority in many of our communities because our military operations helped make staying in their own countries too dangerous.

Once again, out of fear, and without faith in the power of constructive action (building hospitals and training health care workers, building schools and training teachers, bringing in safe water and roads…), we opt for the military solution that leaves countries ravaged, increasing emigration, and increasing immigration here…

    ” ” …When will we ever learn?

@ Vhammon The military industrial complex makes peace a pipe dream. So long as people continue to fear one another this will never become a reality. We blow up their families, they join some terrorist group, kidnap some poor American (tourist, student, etc.), and post their snuff video on the internet.

Basically we’re involved in a world wide gang war. If we didn’t bomb them in the first place they would not have a reason to hate our men and women overseas.

You could also make an argument for why are they there in the first place.

  19. petergrt

Wow, that beats Presley mythology, by a mile.

“If we didn’t bomb them in the first place they would not have a reason to hate our men and women overseas.”

Another product of public education, exacerbated by the MSM.

Did I get everybody upset? I am anti-war. Always was and always will be. Here’s how I would end the wars… nuke to complete dust anybody who would attack us. First of all… I guess I would have to be President to make this promise… I would announce this policy to the world. Then, I would step back away from Israel and tell them they are totally on their own. There won’t be one American finger lifted to help these people any further. I would recall every American soldier around the globe and return them to their bases with an option of early retirement. I would shut down every base we hold around the globe. Then, I would repeat myself again… “If any country wishes to attack America we will retaliate with full nuclear force.” It might get a little noisy as Israel and other countries are pulverized, but I truly believe Israel would have to implement their own “Be Nice” policy….. be very VERY nice. I believe good old fear and loathing would settle into peace and quiet and just like old Teddy Roosevelt, I would forever speak softly, and carry a very large stick. Have a happy Thanksgiving you all, I really do mean it.

So with all the umpteen billions we waste on foreign aid, all of it to countries which despise us, EXCEPT for Israel, you would single out ONLY Israel to cut off completely, even though your entire NSC would tell you that you would be guaranteeing the slaughter of every Jewish man, woman, and child in Israel. REGARDLESS of how they acted. Since all the surrounding Arab counties have a perfect, unbroken track record of trying to finish what Hitler started.

You’re just a God-hater. Why don’t you admit it? You hate the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. You single out Israel because the Jews were the first and only people God had fellowship with, for several millenia preceeding the birth of Christ. You want to see them all murdered because like Hitler, you think that would somehow eradicate Judaism from the face of the Earth.

In short, you’re living proof that the only two virulent forms of bigotry permissible in the West today are against Jews and Christians…

Scott, I hate nothing. What I find VERY tiring, however, is duality. This is a mindset you develop that causes you to differentiate and choose sides, and adhere to identity. You will remain asleep, but twisting in a nervous nightmare, until you lay down all identity and attachments. You’ve got a very big energy focus on God. Why don’t you use it to free yourself? You need to push that energy and that attention to the furthest limits and explore just WHO this God is… but more important than anything else… you must ask this question of yourself. Ask… “Who Am I?” This world is a fleeting and impermanent spectacle. Don’t take it personal. Don’t take anything personal. Life is 1% what you are handed and 99% how you deal with it. Stop reacting, emotionally and personally, to every affront to those precious and fleeting ingredients in your world.
